Should I buy JD3038E or Kubota L3800HST?

I am getting ready to purchase a new tractor for my small farm. I will mainly be using the tractor for grading driveway, moving manure, and bushogging. My property is very hilly. I have priced the both of the above tractors. Both tractors have the Hydrostat Drives and both dealers are going to fill tires with fluid to increase weight.

I got my final pricing with trade in. The JD3038E is about $2000.00 less and includes 6 ft. Frontier Box Blade due to the 2-implement promotion. Both JD and Kubota offer 0% financing but Kubota will increase price $1000.00 if I use the financing. I will be financing and that is why the Kubota is going to cost about $2000.00 more.

Any suggestions on which tractor will be better for my situation? Is the Kubota worth paying $2000.00 more and also having to buy a box blade. Looking at durability, repair cost, and resale value. I have Kubota Dealers and JD dealers within 15 miles.

Thanks for your help.

Don

Welcome to GTT!

You realized you asked this on a John Deere forum?

But seriously, My preference for Green has to due with such things as ergonomics (Like I hate the treadle/boomerang pedal Kubota uses, and the split brakes on the same side as the HST control) and parts support (You can register for free at www.jdparts.com , its the same system the dealer uses at the parts counter) The JD also includes a Quick-Attach bucket system on the loader (called JDQA) wheres the Kub has a pin-on bucket for changing to things like forks or a grapple is very difficult.

Both machines are very simular in most ways so it will come down to personal preference and comfort. Have you been able to drive either?

Go with the John Deere! You'll be happy for many years to come!!:thumbup1gif:
+1 what Kenny said!
Deere, GREEN
I agree with Kenny on this one. I almost bought a kubota also, till I sat on the 1026R. I know you are looking at bigger tractors but the heel/toe operation of the kubota was really uncomfortable for me to spend my money on. The day I bought my Deere I was on my way to the Kubota dealer to by a BX2660 or a B2320, but I stopped back by the Deere store and sat on the 1026R one more time and that was end of story!

I've tried that Kubota treadle, and it really sucks in my opinion. Add into the mix of having to depress the clutch pedal even on HST tractors to start it, and the steering brakes on the same side as the treadle...going green becomes a no brainer.
I also considered buying ORANGE, but one I drove both units, I planted my money firmly on GREEN

Yes I did LOL...that was funny whether you're green or orange. It is hard to get actual experience on both tractors so hopefully you can gather some idea from this forum. If you can actually try them out, by all means do. Have fun, I am pretty sure either one will do quite well for your needs or neither one would be a leader in this field.

The OP has not been back since 6 minutes after he posted the question. I am sure he is not reading...It's possible he posted just to "stir the pot" so to speak, but that's not gonna happen here anyway.
