I have a MW BF10 wheel rake that has single acting hydraulic cylinders on the raise and lower for the wheels. My problem is they are slow to go down I have looked for orifices and there are none in the hyd plumbing. I use it on a 4020. I have tried it on a 4240 and a 4430 and neither will allow the wheels to go down. the cylinders have springs attached to them to help them lower. I have taken the cylinders loose and moved them up down by hand and they work fine. I am at a loss as to why they wont just drop down any help??

one reason a SA cylinder would not work correctly when attached to a hydraulic source would be that the cylinder itself is bypassing inside and needs to be resealed....or the vent is clogged or partially obstructed ....mine had a miniscule vent hole on a screw in a hex head bolt at the rear side of the cylinder (opposite end to the hose connection) to do the venting (didnt see it till it started leaking out fluid on the down stroke)

i had one on brush hog wheels that got slower and slower and then started pushing fluid out the vent when on the down stroke in my case it was cheaper to replace the cylinder than it was to reseal the old one .....
