Well I've concluded my experiment. Within the last 2 months I have been grown more and more aggravated with the quality of my 60D mower. I know there are dozens and dozens of post on this site about adjusting, adjusting, adjusting. Well I've come to the conclusion that there is no way to adjust out the titling action on hill sides that causing dipping. Today I measured the deck movement and on slopes these things can easily dip 1/2-3/4" so you're going to get the ridges. I suppose this is why you don't see the commercial guys using them and also I viewed several adds and they are "always" like mowing on a ball field. Flat as a pancake so they say. We'll I started using the old standby...Landpride 60" and you can see the results. Now having said this , it's not to say that the mower is somewhat average but they wouldn't sell manicured lawn fees. I'm posting this not specifically as a complaint but a research. Naturally this would depend on your layout. Passing this along for direct experiences. First photo is the Landpride result. Second is Landpride on 1025r Third is 60D .

That rear mower result picture is nice (y)
Now I want one
The belly mower though does have it's place, up close and personal, tight trimming etc. Jimmy glad you like it....I first thought the weight was a little much but really it hugs the ground Also mows my bank really nice. I decided to leave the belly mower on added ballast and that works fine.

After pulling a Landpride AT72 behind my 67 1020 for almost 30 years i can tell you its still easy to scalp with the landpride. When I bought my 2038 i went with the 72D with command cut. I would say the finish cut on the pull behind is nicer on flat lawns but i would not go back to it if I had to. The current setup I have now is more compact and quicker to get started. Mine was the side discharge because the rear was not manufactured at that time. I replaced the gear box twice over the 25 years and the drive shaft also twice. The gear box from Landpride was not too Bad priced the first time 380 and the second time around 420. The drive shaft i just bought a generic one off the web. I still have the mower and only used it once since I had my 2038, mainly because i like using the 2038 more than the 1020, dont get me wrong but i love the 1020 its just hard for a fat old man to climb into the seat. In 2012 I almost traded for a rear discharge but decided to buy the new gear box and save my money. The Landpride Finish mowers are about the nicest out there even if big Orange bought them.

Drifterbike: I've been running the Landprides close to 40 years also. I have a 6' and have had 7' The 5' is better for nice cut to avoid scalping and there is a roller kit available...my reference was eliminating the swinging deck...but the 60D does have it's place and is good on flat ground.

the front roller kit i added after i bought it. It does ok but its still easy to scalp. I mow close to 4 acres and the 72" is for me. on my 2038R the 72D auto connect and the command cut is for me. I like it doubles has a step i always park it on the ground and it helps a old man in to the seat. the only problem I have had is I broke two of the gague wheels mounts and the command cut was out of alinement once.
