Doing some fall maintenance; oil and filter, greasing prop shafts and chassis etc. Saw this when I removed front shaft boot:

I'm guessing the drift pin must be flush before snap ring can be moved back into place. I grease shafts every fall and this definitely happened between last year (Nov) and now and I didn't really have that many 4WD hours in that time period.

Here's my buddy Cooper. Every fall he shows up to winter over and make little hawks. When I work my brush pile he stands by in case an "opportunity" arises. I think he cashed in on a couple Carolina anoles today.

Once you put the split pin back in place and the snap ring in the groove, you might want to check to see if it still has sufficient tension.
If it fits loosely, you may need to replace it.

A hawk lives in the woods about a 100 yards over from my place. I watched it as it caught a squirrel a couple weeks ago.
