Just got a cat 1 speeco e hitch.. trying to hook up to my deere imatch ballast box and the pins are too narrow to fit properly.. I measured inside to inside on the quick hitch and measured just a hair over 27 inches..
The ballast box pins are welded.. I know if I were to use a regular quick hitch I could add bushings..
Anyone run into this or think of a solution?

I need a Visual ........you know we like pics.

Theres a real fine line around the 27" mark.......usually a grinder can negotiate this varience.

This is best case.. notice the top hook is all the way to the right.. it shifts to the left the left bottom pin falls out of the quick hitch
Do folks put spacers in the top pin?

YEP.. I agree. TSC sells them, guessing Rural King, I think Northern tool was the cheapest place to buy them.
Yeah but Hitchme34 is sort of screwed, he has a CAT 1 hitch.

I had a HF quick hitch years ago think I paid less than $75. I agree the latches wouldn't fit . when I bought the hitch and bushings.
After maybe 20 mins , using a metal grinding bit on my electric drill. they worked. Admit should not have to do this on a new hitch.
I don't see where he is saying they won't latch. just the pins are to short. that is the reason for the bushings.

He can't use bushings with that SpeeCo Quick Hitch, the bottom hooks are made for Cat. 1 sized pins, so that you don't need bushings. Only Cat.1 (7/8" dia.) pins fit in the two bottom hooks,

Side view. A bushing cannot fit this space.
