Just as the title states; going to be spreading salt and sand this winter in my drive as well as my neighbors.
Lately Maine is getting a lot more ice and I want to be prepared.
Looking for the cheapest but most effective spreader. Doesn't have to be PTO driven, just be able to do the job.

Any suggestions? :good2:

Salt and Sand are typically very problematic in a lawn style broadcast spreader. I would recommend checking products from companies who make spreaders specifically designed for salt and sand. They are typically more expensive but work much better for winter tasks.

I bought one of the cheaper buyers that I mounted to a receiver hitch on my 3pt. I’ve user it for seed, fertilizer and have even run 7mm gravel for sanding roads.

I’d take a pic but it’s all the way in the back of my shipping container. As long as you don’t leave it material in it outside over night it won’t freeze up on you.

Best cost effective method imo
