Hey Now,

Hope all is well! I have an 1985 750 with bucket and Kelley back hoe. My issue is that for the longest time, to start it, the starter would click but not engage and start the engine. Figured the started had a dead spot, I decided to replace the starter, starts more often without beating it with a dead blow hammer but pretty much the same issue...

any thoughts? Greatly appreciated.

Switch, solenoid or a bad ground wire. Start with the ground as it's no or little cost and pretty easy.

Thanks! Come on, beating it with a hammer always works! LOL! On the original starter, I suspected the solenoid so I would tap it and it would start so that is why I preplaced the starter.
As for ground, good question, I will check all grounds, I should have thought of that...
Battery load test, no, I did not suspect that because when it did engage, it sounded strong so I thought the battery would have good CA.

Thank You! I will start with the ground.

Hmm, I've got a crazy question! You said, "On the original starter, I suspected the solenoid so I would tap it and it would start so that is why I preplaced the starter." If you suspected the solenoid...as I also do!... why did you replace the starter??? Bob
