West Coast has some nice products. I added a set of their spikes (along with the chain catcher) and bark box to my MS460 Magnum and added their muffler ports to each of my MS261s. In addition, I swapped my stock air filters for their oiled foam ones. The are picking up their youtube content which is informative and fun to watch.

I already do, been running it for 2 years with a 20” bar.
Ohhh okay, just a bar length change.

A few of mine, two chainsaws, a MS250 and a MS261. Also a leaf blower with the long hooked tube for blowing out gutters and a pole saw. The pole saw works great but is heavy, I can only use it about 45 minutes before I have to quit. I also have a string trimmer but no pictures.
I'm guessing the ms250 is the backup to that ms261, and not the other way around. ;)

just put a pair on my 400 last week
Once i saw your post I snagged a set. No one seems to be making both dogs for the 462, but WCS seems to be. I need to mount them, but darn do they look great.

I actually had a badly scored piston and cylinder in the MS 250 and bought the MS261. Later on I rebuilt the MS250 with parts from Amazon so it runs well but yes, it’s my backup.

Did you figure out why the piston scored? Bad fuel? Too lean?

I had a MS270 from roughly 2005 that had a bad clutch assembly. It became unsafe and frankly was too small for what I needed and 40-50 pulls to start it even with ethanol free fuel was a pita. The ms462cm was highly rated and the ms500i wasn't available yet so I went for it. The 462 has been great. I didn't have the desire to drop 50-100 into the ms270 to refresh it and hope that fixed the clutch and the starting issue. It made more sense to sell it and put the money towards a ms261cm. The ms261 now is the backup/ limbing saw. It as well as the ms462 start on the 2nd or 3rd pull hanks to that ever so beautiful decompression button.

From posting the scored piston problem with my MS250 on another forum it was most likely from straight gas. Without going into details I never did figure out how or when. The availability of knock off parts for common saws is amazing. I bought Hyway parts for mine, a new jug, piston and gaskets for $100. A couple of pics, looking in the exhaust port before the rebuild, the scored piston and rings, and most of the parts after disassembly and cleaning. I spent more time cleaning saw dust and oil off all the parts then taking it apart and putting it together.

Yup. Last year I rebuilt the carb on my 025 (predecessor to your MS250). Call me sentimental for wanting to keep/rebuild the original but I saw (no pun intended) no shortage of places selling a kit complete with carb, coil, spark plug, coil wire, fuel lines, and air&fuel filter for under $20. Shipping included. I don't know how the heck they can knock them out so cheap. In my case I figured if the original lasted this long I wasn't going to give up on it now - although the rebuild kit probably came from the same factory 🤔

The MS500i is a beast, that I can assure you.

We started with this.

This is a massive Red Oak. My saw only has a 24” bar. I struggled to get the trunk cut here. There was no way I could get closer to the base. It measured 46” across after I got it to settle and lay down

These folks haven’t had power in three weeks. They lost 10 large trees in the nasty wind storm.

I’m worn out. 😆 But the MS500i was begging for more. The throttle response and power from the fuel injected saw was very very impressive. I’m no lumberjack, but I’ve run a few saws. This one is far and above any factory saw I’ve ever run. 👍🏼

That's a hell of a mess. It would have taken me a week just get it in pieces.
We experienced the township clear out the right of way along the road a few years ago and everyone requested to leave the logs for us firewood hounds, and I picked up a 661 with a 32" bar.
The guys in the neighborhood couldn't cope with the large logs with their small saws.
I often glance at that saw which mostly sits on cutting days but it's worth every penny when big wood happens.
