I drove the Silverado 2500 out to get propane, which was on 4th of JULY special for $1.99 per gallon,,
Coming home, after about 3 miles on the interstate, the front wheels started to shimmy when the brakes were applied,
By the time I got home, I actually thought a wheel was falling off, the shimmy was so bad.
I cleaned the shop floor really good, jacked up the right front, and the rotor was "locked" to the caliper,,
By the time I got the two bolts out that hold the caliper, the caliper had released.
I removed the caliper, and found a small dent in the corner of one brake caliper pad.
Everything else was smooth, pads and rotor,, actually looked like new.
I did not find any foreign object that could have initiated this,,
Something must have been thrown up into the caliper, and jammed the pad against the rotor.
As best as I can calculate, I have driven disc brake vehicles for 55 years,,
nothing like that has ever happened to me, and I have never heard of it before,,
Have you ever seen anything like that???
