Hi, new guy here trying to figure out my riding mower issue. I’m sure it’s a simple fix but can’t find anything on it. When the mower deck is up I turn the mower on and works just fine, when I lower the deck the belt becomes very loose and won’t turn the blades. Is there a spring that fell off or am I missing something?? Belt is fine. I’m sure I’m missing something here ha! It’s a stx38 yellow deck. Thank y’all for any help!

https://partscatalog.deere.com will give you drawings and part numbers for your machine. Look up your model number and compare the drawings to what you have. Probably a missing/broken spring or maybe a worn out belt.
