I've used a phd on my JD 4200 regularly for 20 years and never had a problem with the the top connection point. However, I am aware of guys breaking or cracking that point so I was trying to think of a way to get a swivel in there just as a precaution. My current phd is a Frontier PHD100 with a fixed hole for the top pin. The previous one hooked up the same.

The only solution I can think of is to weld the end of a standard top link with a short threaded rod and swivel. I googled it a bunch of ways and can't find another solution. I figured someone would offer a solution but if so I can't find it. I believe I need a rigid connection at the end of the boom so it can only pivot where the pin to the tractor is, otherwise it will pivot all over and risk damage. That rules out inserting a real short top link.

Any thoughts or referrals to an aftermarket solution? Thanks.

Are you referring to a ball end like your normal toplink? If so, Danusers are made that way. Ore at least mine is.

Weld a threaded steel tube on it and attach a heim joint

you might have a solution already, but what about cutting one end off a generic top link, then you can weld that to the end of the PHD. Probably need to cut the PHD down the length of the top link, or weld a steel block and tap a thread to suit.

Yes they do make a PH digger with a swivel.

Just picked one up .....sorry ..I paid too much....45$

Not sure on the Brand yet as I've not even looked it over close.

Seems to be a higher end older unit. Has a shear bolt and a captive bolt for auger so it don't fall off when shear bolt goes pop.
Its YellA...Big 3"++ pipe boom and a nice auger with bolt on teeth.
Swivel part is tight/seized from sitting but it will free up I'm sure.
