For the past three years I have been searching the Internet for a Tachometer...preferable a round needle type tach for my Z710A. That is one for a 2 cylinder V-twin engine. I would guess there is no such item made for a 2 cylinder lawn tractor . So, I ended up with a digital Hardline HR-8061-2 model . This one was easy to install once I located a Instrument Pod and location on the tractor that would visibly to see. I can now stop guessing the RPMs on the engine when I mow. At full throttle I get a tach reading of 3690 rpms, and engine fluctuates from 3660-3690 rpms. I would say that would be about normal throttle setup. I prefer not to run at "red-line" throttle speed.

Like your idea of a tachometer. :good2:

Been wanting to mount a tach. on the 997 Z Trak diesel, trying to figure out a good viewing place to mount it the way the 997 is built. :dunno:

I used up my best two spots on the Z710A for the Oil pressure and volt gages. Those gage pods are the best thing to use if you have the proper location(s). Of course, if John Deere were to get smart and install these gages on these expensive Ztraks, the costs wouldn't be all that much for the owners to have. It very important to have and know what the engine is doing.

Really like your setup and gauge mounting job.:good2:

Ideally I want tach, oil pressure and water temp gauges if I can figure out a good place to cluster mount them.
Need to sit in the seat and put some thought into it, got to be a way.
