Looks like one way or another the 1026R will be gone this week. I would like to sell it out right on my own on CL or by word of mouth, but if that don't happen I will take the trade deal the dealer offered me.:empathy3: I was looking at the X540 to replace the 1026R:gaah:(that don't even seem right).
Brand new they are about 6900.00+Tax. One dealer I was at today has a 2010 model with 89 hrs on it for 5500.00+Tax. I don't know if the 1400.00 difference and 2 yrs lass warranty justifies going used.
I have read most /all of the past post on the X540 on GTT and was just wanting to get some reasent imput:read The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. :hi: :drinks:

I have an 09 and I love it. Nice and smooth, quiet and lots of power. It makes a mowing fun.

Jeff,
The newer X500 series is sort of an indirect replacement for the older open frame 300 series, i.e. 318, etc. They're more refined and nicer to drive, but lack some of the heaviness of the older design. At that price point, I might look for a late model (i.e. late 90s to 2001) 455 or 445, or the 4X5 series replacement the X4XX/X5XX series. Myself, I would love to have a 455, but I'm satisfied with my 445.

I'm sure I'm not the only curious one. Are you happy with the trade allowance for the 1026R? I concur with the others, a HDGT is not a step down from the R in regards to mowing. Broaden your search to include 425, 445, 455, X475, X485, X495 (in AWS or 2WS), X700, X720, X724, X740, X744.

Is the price you listed for the x540 tractor only or with a mower.

I have to belive that a x540 with a mower and a blade or blower for snow is going to be in the 10K range and not far away in cost or cost recovery of the 1026?

I wish you had the 72" curtis blade, I would buy it from you.

Thanks For all the input guys!:hi:

@ T-Mo You are right about the X540 compared to a older 318 and unfortunately nothing new these days seem to be as they use to, The older 4xx series were very nice, But I guess I am a little leary of buying something like this and not knowing what its life before was like. And by having no warranty I don't want to inherit any more costly problems at this time.

@XSKIER As far as trade allowance is anyone ever happy? :mocking: How ever I was suprised how good of a price they offered and it it is inline with my craigslist price. I did run a used X540 that I put a link to at the bottom of this post, and it was nice, it was not a 1026R but I will have to get use to that.:empathy:

@Brian Sorry the plow is only 60'':( The pricing is for X540 with 54'' MMM 6899.00 +tax or 7313.00 total for new. The used one in the link below is listed @ 5700.00 but they let the brushguard go in another deal so now it is 5500.00+tax for a total of 5830.00. As always the snow plow is always priced sky high:gaah: It is only a 48'' blade and is 700.00 or 800.00 for the plow and another 280.00 for the angle kit. They always get us some way:mocking:

Anyway this will all be done by the weekend and I can move on to the next aventure in life, thank for all the replys.:drinks:

Thats a nice looking tractor. Grill guard and HDAP tires too.

I had a 345 prior to my SCUT. That is what the 540 replaced.

That said, this size is great for mowing and will do a lot of work actually.

I agree with the ^.

I went from a 1 yr old X540 to a 2011 X720 a year ago, snowblower/vaccum system and a 54" deck.
The shift drive attachments and the electronic ignition along is GREAT. :yahoo:

Don't ask why I traded the X540, I don't think it's fair to know the reason for the fellows that like there X540's, it's was just a bad unit
off the line in Horican, Wi.

If anyone want's to know, send me a PM.

Cheers!
