Ok it is not what you are thinking. We have several decorative cement caps on the stairs around the house.

This winter finished one off and I need to come up with a way to fix it. My first thought was to find a replacement and just replace it. Then this morning when I was finishing chipping the old stair cap off I realized that the old cap tucks in-between the walk above and below.

So now my thought is to just place a form around the step and get come Sakrete and pour my own step cover. Please give me your thoughts and opinions and what type of cement I should use.

I would think that the Sakrete for slabs would work fine. I think the smallest bag you can get is 40 lbs but you won't need near that much. I poured a small 4x6 slab last week at the door to my small shop and it worked great
