My Little Green Machine does a wide range of jobs on the farm but it's most important task is getting us out of a 3/4 mile gravel driveway when the snow is deeper than 8 to 12 inches using the 54" snowblower. All downhill going outbound. Have had the Carlisle Turf Chiefs it came with for the last 8 years but they are failing and it's time to buy another pair.

They've been fine but since I'm replacing them as a pair thought I'd see what ideas you might have as to sticking with them or trying something different. I would like to get away from 4 ply if that is possible.

Is this for a 1977 JD 2035?

Edit- Nevermind, I see your avatar is a 2305.

Versa Turfs, hand's down. If you liked the turf tires, you will LOVE the Versa Turfs.........Excellent traction, self cleaning and so good, most of us don't use any tire chains any longer. Of course the chains are needed for glare ice, but other than that, the Versa Turfs get the job done....

Plenty of threads on GTT about them and the reviews of those using them as compared to other tires.

Thanks for your replies. I went and did a search to read other comments on the VersaTurfs and just as I was ready to pull the cord for them I came across a comment about the Titan R14Ts. The comment sounded very good and I like how they look. Anyone have experience with them AND the VersaTurfs?

A little off subject but pretty important. How much do those tires weigh loaded up with Beet Juice. My left rear tire is literally seeping ballast through the rubber, one instant things are fine and the next time I went to use the tractor I see this. A little nervous about moving it, I can change the tire where it is located but am worried about weight and the fact that I have to screw the bolts in. Again my thanks for all of your help.

What size tires do you have now?
Versa turfs are good, only come in 2 sizes now. Basically will fit current X758,1025R,1023E, 1026R, and new this year larger size for the gen2 2025R.

I have a new set of R4s that came off my 2025R when it was brand new, I am going to be selling them soon for cheap if they fit yours or if anyone else has a use for them or is interested.
I am thinking $250 for the whole set of 4.

Look closely at sizing. The Versa Turfs are only radial. I don't believe there are Radial R14Ts that will fit your machine. The 26 x12.00-12 R14Ts are bias ply. They look nice. But I'd take the radial Versa Turfs over them any day.

Essentially the Versa Turfs fit garden tractors and subcompacts. The Radial R14Ts fit the 2-series and larger machines.

You can look at the HDAP tires too if the other ones aren't available.

Well your rear tires are the same as the X758, and 1 Series machines 1025R, 1026R, 1023E.
So there is a Versa turf available in that size.
Here is a link to good buy on them.
$138 a tire plus free shipping.

I am going to guess your front tires are an 18x8.5R10 or hopefully at least the wheels are 10"
Here is a link to good buy on the fronts.

Ok, I'm officially confused which is good since it means I'm in new territory and learning something. From what I've been reading it sounds like people who have had both tires are happy with them. Here's where I get a little lost.

In the 26x12.00-12 size for both

Versa Tread
Radial
4ply
Load Rating: 825 lbs
Price: $137.15 plus shipping

R14T
Bias
6ply
Load Rating: 2149
Price: $205.99 plus shipping

Here's a link to a dealer selling the correct size R14T for my tractor R14T Tires

I don't know enough about tires to appreciate what differences the two, apparently quite different tires, will have for me on a practical basis. Help Tractor Tire Wizards help!!

I would go with the Versa Turf radials given those choices.
The radial should perform better in the winter or most any season, based on the how the contact patch works with a radial compared to bias ply tire. A radial will typically give you more contact with the ground then a bias ply tire.
Also a radial rides a lot smoother then a bias ply tire, and when the majority of a tractors suspension is it's tires, I would highly recommend whatever you buy, be a radial if ride comfort is at all important to you.

I know that Kenny already said it but I have these on my golf cart and they work great in the winter. I only get stuck if I get high centered in a drift.

HDAP

I am editing this to mention the load rating looks like it is 600 lbs. Might be a bit light for a 1 series.

I believe that is what comes on an X758. I replaced mine with Versa turfs a while back.
I traded them in to my tire dealer. He told me Friday he still had them, they are still like new, they came off my X758 when it had less then 10 hours on it. If your interested in those. I know he would make you a great deal on them.
This is my tire dealer that has them.

Just ordered up a pair of Versa Turfs based on all the great information provided to me in this thread. It was not easy finding them, my local Les Schwab dealer said it would take him a month or so to get them. When they're having trouble sourcing a tire it means things are getting tight. I won't be sure mine are showing up until I see tracking information but for now my fingers are crossed.

Once again, thank you all for taking the time to respond and provide me with some good information. Much appreciated.
