What do you all have your tractors insured for? Any ballpark numbers on what your paying? What does it cover and not cover?

If it was only at the location of my house then my homeowners would cover it. Since I transfer it to my forestry property for use and back (not on property that I have a house on) then I have to pay for another policy $1 per $100 value. Covers just about everything except terrorism (extra cost). It is actually a commercial policy.

Could you please tell us what insurance company you have? Thanks.

I insured my 2032r for its purchase price. I'm with Cincinnati insurance co. I pay $74 a year and have a 1k deductible. My coworker has a 3720 that he rolled on his driveway. He had it covered under his homeowners insurance and had a 5k deductible. That wasn't fun. Insurance specifically on the tractor is so cheap, I wouldn't want a deductible that high.

For insurance on your tractor, you might check with your local Farm Bureau office. They were the only ones who could provide the proper insurance for the needs that I have. Don't forget that not only do you have a tractor to insure, but you also have attachments for it. For example, I have a rear finish mower that costs half of what a 1025R does, so I needed insurance on it also. I also have some other attachments besides the mower. What about your loader, if you have one? They are not cheap either. What about your mid mount mower? See how easy it is to overlook your needs for insurance. As a result of all the attachments, my cost of insurance for the tractor is $240 per year.

I called my insurance company the other day when I bought the new ZTrak and they said that since it is at the house, it would be covered under that policy. The only issue I am facing is that I can't increase the personal property part of the insurance because it is a % of the dwelling rebuild cost. I already have it maxed out at 75%. So my only option is to increase the dwelling rebuild cost.

They did ask several times if this is used for commercial mowing and since it isn't that I was fine with the coverage type that I have for both machines and all attachments. The only challenge is determining if I have enough coverage as it is hard to say how much it would cost to replace everything in the house and the other buildings. Though the biggest risk where we are at for a total loss that would impact all of our buildings be a tornado. If it were a fire, there is enough separation where I would say the risk would be fairly low that it would jump from one building to the next.

I insure my tractor and anything that attaches to it at $30,000 replacement value. It costs about $120 per year. Definitely not included in my regualr home policy, I had to schedule all of it as extra.

For all those who think their Homeowners policy covers their JD, PLEASE CONTACT YOUR AGENT....All companies are different.

Some companies have certain limits on certain personal property, (IE lawn mowers and tractors.) and might not have over turn (rollover) coverage.
If claiming off homeowners, your homeowners deductible will apply, if a claim is made, your homeowners policy will be charged with a loss (rate increase) which can be anywhere from 10% to 35%, and that will stay on for usually 3 years, do the math..ouch!!

As a 20 plus year agent, I highly suggest an Inland Marine Policy. These policies are very affordable and have a lot of coverage including transport. They usually have a $250 deductble. And generally do not generate a rate increase over a loss. You will have to insure tractor separate, and any attachment including loader, mower deck, bladers, (you get the idea) seperately with dollar values attached to each.

Hope this clears a few things up..:good2:

I agree with Wolfman051. I have my 990 TLB and I insured everything on it with Sentry Select Insurance Co. It took me a little while to find someone in NJ who would insure my 990. The selected coverage description is Inland Marine. The total coverage is for $28k with a $500 deductible and the yearly cost is a little under $160. It covers me for everything, even terrorism! I help my neighbors out at times and the homeowners would not cover that. So to me it is good insurance to have.

Deere financing mandates and offers insurance if you are going to take advantage of their zero percent financing. I believe the price was not bad and it covered roll over, transportation, fire and theft. I will contact them and get a quote to compare with others when my financing ends.
