What model year do you have? I went out of my way to get a 2012 with the hopes that JD might have any assembly line issues ironed out. I DON'T like reading about these issues!
Tractorman, can you tell where it's coming from?

trans leak

my machine came into dealer from factory around 12 -23 -11.they delivered it on 12-29-11. i have not spoken to dealer yet, because i spotted leak yesterday which was a sat , late in the day, dealer closed.but i will have his ear tomorrow!
tractorman, does your leak appear similar to mine and Jason's (dieselshadow)? As you may know, the reasons that Jason's and mine leaked were different though they appeared to be dripping from the same place.

Mine actually had 2 leaks, one was just a loose hose clamp, hopefully your's will be something simple.

And I suggest you shouldn't be too hard on your dealer, work with him, after all, it isn't his fault. JD may have some isolated issues out there. The best part about Jason's and my experiences was that the dealer took care of our problems under warranty. I just got my tractor back today, and my dealer was sincerely interested in making sure he fixed the problem before returning it. I'm sure he'll be following up with me as time goes on.

Good luck, keep us informed, we like details and pics.

Tom, I couldn't have said it better myself. :thumbup1gif:

Tractorman, JD and my dealer took care of this issue fairly quickly. They stood behind what they sold me and I'm sure they'll do the same for you. Like Tom said, maybe what is happening on yours is fairly minor and can be repaired quickly. Keep us posted, we'll do what we can to help you.:drinks: If you can, post some pics. We might be able to identify the source of the leak.:good2:

Does it look like this?

Auto part Tire Gear Automotive wheel system Wheel

There was always a drip hanging off of the hydrostat on my leak. Tomfive's leak looked similar as well. Can you verify all of 6 the bolts attaching the hydrostat to the transaxle are installed and tight? There is a service bulletin at JD for these bolts.

similar but on smaller scale. never driped.and yes all six bolts are in place and tight.
Tractorman, my leak in the front of the transmission didn't really have an oil drop. It was more of a film of oil under the filter and Mid PTO, but you can surely see that there was oil where it shouldn't be. I wiped it off under the Mid PTO and it returned the next weekend.

My dealer put a dye into the hydraulic oil and could see where it was leaking with a black light. It didn't take him long to diagnose the problem. If you're sure it's leaking, have the dealer pick it up and take a look.

Hope this helps, good luck and keep us informed.
