In this thread of a few weeks ago, Randy mentions keeping his batteries fully charged by using a "battery tender."

I'd like to know if a regular battery charger would do the same thing? I have a 1.5 amp charge option on my charger.

In short-No, a regular charger will not sense the voltage and adjust itself as needed. I run two BT's between my motorcycles, tractor, and gator. They are good products. Don't be tempted by the Horrible Fright ones they sell for $8 or so...my neighbor was for his standby generator and in 1 month the new battery was cooked dry and trashed.

Last year I bought three with the floating charge feature and battery condition LEDs. The one I put on the Snappers battery immediately indicated the battery was bad, it turns out it was... so I have faith in them..

I also use them on just about everything that sits at my home for a long time. All the kids quads over the winter have one along with the jeep and Lawn Tractor. I suggest the battery tender brand.
