Hi All, new here. I am hoping someone can help me with a trouble code question. I am looking to buy a used 3038e tractor that is AS-IS but has a trouble code of 102.04which based on my googling efforts may be the following:

ECU 000102.04
Engine system
Voltage malfunction for air pressure in the manifold. Arrange repair as soon as possible through a John Deere dealer.

The only light on the dash is the red STOP indicator

Can anyone confirm if this is the correct code for this model tractor, as well as help me understand what might be wrong and how severe this issue could be? The tractor itself is a 2019 model with less than 100 hours. It could be a good deal as long as there isnt anything catastrophically wrong with it. Any help is appreciated!

Doubt it. It says "voltage malfunction" right there in the fault description. I would expect a turbo failure to give a manifold pressure low signal or something.

I looked up the same code and the description that I found ends with "out of range (low)" which I interpret to mean the signal coming from that sensor is below what the ECU ever expects to see under any condition or in other words the wiring is disconnected or the sensor is broken.

Take my advice with a grain of salt because I am not a certified John Deere mechanic nor do I work on tractors for a living. But if I was looking for a tractor, seeing a code with that specific description wouldn't scare me. YMMV.

As for whether sensors are covered under powertrain warranty, I would assume so but you should call a dealer and ask.

We had .04 error on 3045R and it was a bad sensor in engine bay. It was reporting wrong data, nothing wrong with the engine. JD Technician can easily find it as they can tap into the sensor and see the min/max and current reading. I would thoroughly inspect air and fuel system for any leaks/cracks or anything wrong (highly doubt any will be present on 100hour machine unless owner smacked something to the engine bay). These sensors can be pricey for what they are but it is palatable.
