Today in Tim's video from the Farm show, he talks about the loader suspension system that Massey is demonstrating at the show, Tim and the Massey rep really give a great demonstration of how the LSS system works and how much of difference it really makes.

Great video title as well, I say that because that is almost exactly what I said when I first took delivery of my new to me 2013 5115M. Which my 2013 5115M came with Deere's LSS kit on it. I said exactly that "What is that" referring to the accumulator part of the LSS mounted on the right rear axle.

Great job on the video Tim!

Fast forward a bit in time spent with my 2013 5115M and it's LSS feature ,and I have found it to be an amazing feature. I liked it so much so, that I now have ordered an LSS kit for my 4066R.

Deere does not seem to push this feature much, even though they have offered it for quite some time on the 4 series. That's really why I wanted to share Tim's video from today, and point out to 4 series Deere owners, that this feature is available to us as well.

I am really looking forward to getting the LSS kit added onto my 4066R.
Next month is when my new MSL loader is due to arrive for the 4066R.
I had made a deal with my dealer to trade in my NSL 440 Loader for a MSL 440 loader, and asked them to plan on adding the LSS kit at the same time we make the trade. Also since my 4066R is now about to hit the 200 hour mark, they will also be doing all the first service requirements to it as well while its in there for the LSS and loader swap.

Well not real sure why this somewhat 4R specific post of mine was moved to the implements section?
Its simply a little know option available for the LCUT 4R series tractors. It's not about an implement nor an attachment.
It's more of an optional feature for the 4R series tractors.

My 2038r has the optional accumulator on the front 3 point. It really does make a difference very similar to what the demo showed for bouncing. Should be easier on the front axle and loader or 3-point components.

It really does make a difference! Not sure the video even fully captured the difference in cab motion.

My family’s Case 580 backhoe has this feature. It works great for carrying a load. Should be ‘off’ for digging.
I think the switch needs to be within reach of the operator.

Don’t know yet about my 4R till it gets installed.
But , I honestly never turn mine off on my 5m , she seems to dig just fine.
I have yet to have any real problems digging or even grading with it on. The over all plus side for stability and comfort, I would say exceeds most of the marginal gains you might see by turning it off. If I were doing nothing but grading work for an extended period of time, I might could see taking the time to turn it off. I typically use my land plane for grading, so I have yet to really feel the need to turn it off.

Since one of my 5m’s has it and the other doesn’t , I have quite a few hours running them both performing same type of dirt and gravel loader work. I doubt the one without it ever sees much future loader work unless at some point I add LSS to it.
It’s just night and day smoother and more stable with LSS vs without it.

I think in the 5 series. You can opt for cab mounted on/off switch .

But I have not really seen a lot of Benefit from turning it off, so I doubt I ever pay to add the cab switch .

I wonder how difficult it is to install that kit….if it is too much for a “DIY’r”. I’ll have to search and find kit/part number and price now that I’m curious for my 4R!

Front End Loaders | 440R Loader | John Deere US

Pallets can be moved easily without sustaining cargo damage
· Pallets of seed or fertilizer can be carried across a yard without a bag spilling and creating a costly mess
· A properly-ballasted tractor with LSS has increased stability, creating a smoother ride for the operator
Cost of ownership
· Extended life of loader pins and bushings
· Less stress on tractor axle
Reasons for turning LSS off include:
· Digging applications - with LSS on, the cylinders retract slightly, losing lifting power
· Holding a grade when blading - with LSS on, it is difficult to hold a constant grade
· Precise pallet and bale handling - with LSS on, the load moves up and down slightly while being positioned
· Parking a loader - with LSS on, when down pressure is applied, the lift cylinders retract slightly, making it more difficult to park
The switch is conveniently located in the operator station to avoid having to exit the tractor seat to manually move the handle on the LSS.

LSS can also be ordered with a manual shutoff. Depending on the tractor/loader model, the accumulator is located in different places. On the 440R, the accumulator is mounted outside the bottom of the mounting frame. On the 5 Series Tractors, the accumulator is mounted near the inside of the rear right wheel. On 6 Series tractors and larger, it is mounted in between the hydraulic connection and the mounting frame.

I wish I could help on the cost but mine was ordered with my new MSL 440R loader .
We’re trading loaders with 3rd functions and buckets swap and including the LSS as well as including all labor for a trade difference of $3500.out the door. None of my paperwork shows the LSS itemized out by itself .

No worries! I’ll do some research and see what I can find. I’ll probably email my sales guy and ask him for pricing…faster that way. I’m just very curious now after watching TTWT’s video

Installation looks pretty easy... but you need the nitrogen and guage to charge accumulator

Call me a pessimist; but I was expecting over a $1000…so not as bad as I would have guessed.

My 440R MSL loader and LSS system finally came in .
Grabbed a couple pics of it still in the crate today.
Can’t wait to get it all installed and try it out.
I know I love the MSL on the 2025R and love the LSS on one I my 5115Ms .
The 4044R will be the first time I have had both features on one machine.
Aldo ordered some rear wheel waits for the 4066R , Tires are already loaded .
It is my hope to not always have to grab ballast for the 3pt to move heavy pallets around the implement barn.

Would you have to "re-charge" that accumulator over time? I'd think it would last a long time (assuming no leaks)....

Wondering if I install myself...I could take the accumulator to dealer to charge it? Not having looked at instructions in a while I'd assume making connections I'd lose some pressure...and the proper way would be to charge it after it's completely installed...but that's not practical to take the tractor to them to charge it...or pay to have them come here I wouldn't think....I can ask what they'd charge (assuming they even have the capabilty with a big nitrogen tank/tools, etc).

I also just noticed the installation instructions are for the D170 and H180 loaders....nothing about the 440R.....perhaps it's similar enough it wouldn't be an issue.

One of my 5115M‘s came with LSS , that was the first and still today my only tractor with the feature, so far never had to recharge it. Tractor has around 180-200 hours in it, I bought it earlier this year with 70 hours and it is a 2013, so it’s 8 years old. As far as I know it’s never needed recharged with nitrogen.

My dealer is installing the new MSL loader and LSS on the 4066R as part of the trade agreement.
I will try and remember to ask if there is ever a need service the LSS.

The accumulator is a cool feature. We have them on all our loaders. Even the skidsteers have em. You can haul ass with a bucket load and not lose half of it. Takes a good 5000 hrs before needing recharge.

I was moving some boulders with pallet forks on the 5115M over the weekend and shot a quick video clip of how the LSS helps cradle and sort of floats along, really smoother out the ride, but Al prevents abruptly bouncing the loaded and potentially loosing the load.
