I bought a JD 4010 MCUT about this time last year and thought I got a pretty good deal. It had the 410 loader, 4' JD brush cutter, 5' Box Blade and 5' grader blade. It had 390 some hours on it and I got it all for $6K. My nephew asked for me to help him look for a smaller tractor and I'm having a realy tough time finding anything close to that that doesn't look road hard and put up wet. The closest things I'm finding are little orange tractors for $8K+. What JD's could I find in the 12-18hp range with a loader that I could get under $5K or did I just really lucky and need to up his maximum cost?

For my area, you stole that tractor!
Especially with all the attachments.

Before I found my 2320, I was looking at a 4110 w/loader and older rear blower, about 500 hrs, and he was asking $11k. Must have gotten it too, as it was sold in 48 hours, before I could even check it out in person.

I would say you caught a fish. Market value would be closer to $10,000 for your rig. I would say you are looking at a JD 455 for the money you are wanting to spend. Even then it might be tough unless you find another fish.

He needs 4 wheel drive and a loader.

I see Deere ads on Craigslist all the time and in my area for under $5K you get a beat 650 with no loader. You might get a back blade with it.

I saw an ad yesterday from a guy selling a 1050 with no loader (or any other implements!) and a blown engine for $5,500.

For under $5K with a loader you might find an old Economy Power King but I don't think those are 4 wheel drive.

Wow, you did well... My neighbor picked one up with a loader and mower for a little over 10k last year. I'm sure it had more hours but I don't know exactly. Good thing about his was it was owned by an industrial maintenance dude. You could see that he had done all services to the axles and such.

Good luck trying to get another.

As the others have said, you got a once in a lifetime deal. Don't go giving your friend false hope! I make a living finding deals and you got about as good of one as a man can get!
I'm pretty good at finding deals. Just have to be patient. Got a 5' rock rake over Christmas for $200 and a heavy gearbox auger for $200 about 2 weeks ago. There was a Kubota b6000 on fb today with FEL and brush hog for $1500. Sold in 45 minutes. My tractor was on Craigslist for 2 days when I bought it.

Since you deal with multiple brands I have a question for you. What is the smallest tractor from both Kubota and John Deere available with factory cab and AC? I've seen a new ad for a Kubota B2650 with cab and air which I believe is their smallest, not sure about Deere.

JD's smallest with heat and air is the 3 series.

You can purchase a 1 series with a factory Mauser cab, but only heat.

Smallest orange I see on the Canada Kubota website with cab, heat and air, is a B2650 HSDC series (about a 3 series).

For every under market value deal, there a hundred buyers. For every over market value deal, there are almost zero buyers. Just remember that when looking for deals.:greentractorride::usa
