RGD, I'm really sorry that I missed this thread when you first posted it. I just happened across it by accident. My loss. I'm delighted that you were happy with the workmanship and took the time to share it here. Thanks much.
DavGreg, the short forks are no longer a rumor. They are now a reality! I'm looking forward to using a pair to build a native fieldstone retaining wall this spring. Some of the stones are the size of bean bag chairs and the only other possible way to raise and set them would be with a sling. With the short forks I'll be able to pick and place them while yawning. Can't wait.
