Just bought used X500. I have been looking in parts and see mentions of 54C and 54X. Could someone please tell me the difference so I know which to look at? Thanks

X500 Signature Series tractors had two different styles of decks, but there is some naming convention that gets confusing.

2006-2015 were 54X Edge Xtra decks; 2016-present are 54A Accel Deep decks.

54C is technically 2002-2005 GX335, GX345, GX355, GX255, GT245, GT245, and LX289. This is also referred to as "Convertible" 02/03 and "Edge" 04/05. The 54X is virtually identical to the 54C except for a different front draft bar, rear jacksheeve area, and the addition of small handle welded to the shell, as well as a hose port. There may be some other intricacies, but most parts are interchangeable. I am not certain, but the 2006 & 2007 54X decks may have been referred to as 54C, but they would have truly been 54X.

Anyway, the best thing to do to verify what you actually have is to go to partscatalog.deere.com/jdrc and find your model. You can then scroll down past the parts listings and see links to pdfs which will give you SN breakdowns for the machine and deck. This is the pdf for X500's (the actual model X500, not the entire series): https://partscatalog.deere.com/jdrc...tor__Introduction?a=4508&br=1061&locale=en-US
