Getting our first ZTR.

Original plan was to get a ZTR for the 1/10 acre zoysia lawns & 1/2 acre weed mow around the house. For that, the Toro Timecutter 42" https://www.homedepot.com/p/Toro-TimeCutter-SS4225-42-in-22-5-HP-V-Twin-Gas-Dual-Hydrostatic-Zero-Turn-Riding-Mower-with-Smart-Speed-74726/303195934 seems about right.

Now thinking may want to add "the field" (1-2 acres?) that only gets mowed 3-4 times per year. "The field" is fairly flat, but does have some uneven ground. Currently mowing it with an old Sears DGS 6500 6-speed. At this point, looks like either Timecutter 50" https://www.homedepot.com/p/Toro-TimeCutter-50-in-24-5-HP-V-Twin-Zero-Turn-Riding-Mower-with-Smart-Speed-74731/205818770 or the Toro MX5075 https://www.homedepot.com/p/Toro-TimeCutter-MX5075-with-MyRIDE-Suspension-System-50-in-Fab-24-5-HP-V-Twin-Gas-Dual-Hydrostatic-Zero-Turn-Riding-Mower-74778/303196867.

Trying to decide if the MyRide suspension system on the MX5075 is worth $1200 additional cost. Actually not all of the cost is the MyRide - the MX5075 has better frame/deck, upgraded seat, etc. But for us, it'd be the MyRide that would be the "value" item. The MyRide has been on some Toro commercial units for a couple years, but this is the first year for a residential unit & there isn't a lot on info/reviews yet. Have a feeling that a test ride at dealer (not planning to buy from HD) won't really tell us much, particularly since we're new to ZTRs. So an experienced ZTR operator's guess just by looking at the specs/pics would probably be worth more than our testing.

Any GTT soothsayers available?

If you are going to mow the field, get the suspension.
If you are not going to mow the field, get the suspension.

IMO, Toro's are really good machines.

Loved the reply, Giz. Does get the point across.

So if we go with 50" deck, it'll be the MX5075 with MyRide.

Pros for going with the 42" deck:
-Can put ZTR in pickup if servce needed
-Sunshade available
-Easy mulcher adapter available
-Less $$$

Cons of 42" deck:
-Stamped deck (could upgrade, but won't)
-Have to add comfort/safety upgrades that are included on MX5075 (armrests, rubber floor mat, etc)

Pros for going with 50" deck
-MyRide
-Fab deck
-Less time to mow "the field"; doubt there'd be much diff on zoysia lawns & weeds around house

Cons of 50" deck:
-Transport problems if service needed
-No sunshade available from Toro (or 3rd party AFAIK)
-Switch from Toro's mulch to non-mulch difficult; would have to DIY a block at the chute

Think it's really going to come down to seeing if hubby has problems getting on/off the 50". Concerned that since the MyRide "floor" floats, it sinks as you step onto it - possible stability issue. The solid frame step area is relatively small. The front weights needed for the bagger will prevent a front mount. This is an issue that we should be able to determine with a test ride. :good2:
