Weak rear blade? County Line.

5838 Views 29 Replies 21 Participants Last post by  MeagerHair
I just started using my County Line rear blade and it worked great leveling a road I'm putting through woods. I can angle each way so dirt goes to downhill side. Hydraulic top link I can adjust "the bite" angle. I looked back and it was bent (should have taken a before picture). I bent it back by backing into a large oak tree slowly. (I went a little too far).
Are these blades that weak?

It was 1/2 the price of the big implement brands for a reason. Buy once, cry once.

Apparently yours was. And that's really all that matters, right?

I've only seen 1 County Line back blade bent like that before and the guy that did it literally rammed it into a huge rock at full speed so I wasn't all that surprised at the result.

Back blades aren't really meant for digging per se but the trail you're cutting there doesn't look all that bad either. I don't see any big rocks or large roots. I wonder what you caught it on?

Gottergood.

Its never gonna be the same, and will now bend easier due to the metal at the crease having been stressed.

What machine is it behind?
I see those types of blades all the time at Rural Kings, Farm and Fleets, and TSC's around here. Usually around $450 or so. Just not much to them. They're better suited to the smaller subs and lawn mower type machines.

Could have some 3/16" or 1/4" angle steel welded to the back side, from one end to the other, with the wide part facing the blade. That would help it in the long run.
It really just needs to extend from the end of the blade in, past the point where the rear gusset stops. Which is the point where the bend is now.

I almost got one of those blades, but I noticed on the tractor supply product video that the blade appeared to flex as it was being used. That kinda put me off.

I think a box blade would have done a better job, If you don't have one yet, now would be the time, Straight blades work better for snow work. I have a 5 foot blade just like the one you bent, but I also have a 6 foot heaver one (different brand) that I have had for 40 years and it is still in perfect shape, When they are sitting side by side, you can see a world of difference in the thickness of the steel and construction. My old one did not work with the I-match and it snowed, I had to make a quick purchase.

The 7’ Countyline weighs 238lbs.

I have an 8’ bush hog, the 70-08, but for comparison we’ll use the 7’er... the 70-07. It weighs 538lbs. Same width but 300lbs more.

That Countyline is supposedly decent for snow removal, but the reviews on TSC say they bend badly when used for aggregate.

As noted, have a 2” angle welded to it. Use angle instead of flatbar so it stands up to flex more.

I'm not sure. A root maybe? The tractor never slowed down, seemed to be doing well.
Shoot!

That sucks. My Countyline box blade is tough as nails. I also have a Frontier 60” and have put that thing through all sorts of stress when it was the only implement I owned and it’s still straight and true. Gotta be some soft mild steel they made yours outta. I’d definitely reinforce it like the guys said or get a stronger one. Is your tractor over the hp limit of the blade? Is the cutting edge bent too? If so it’s got no business on a blade to bend that easy

Is that a BRAND NEW blade? I'd return it and get your money back. Then buy a box blade.

I bought one of those. After using it for an hour,
I managed to bend it the same way. I returned it and got a replacement, but before using the new one I welded on some reinforcements. It’s good now, no bending. Consider this blade to be a kit. Get it cheap, weld on some reinforcement and you’ll have a good blade.

Are you sure if you pull off the Countyline Sticker, that it wouldn't say "Imported by the Container Load from the home of the Bat Scratch Fever" (with always FREE Shipping......)

I am surprised you were able to return a bent blade.

I set up my new Countyline 60" tiller yesterday on my 2025R, and it actually worked fantastic. It took a little trial and error to get the PTO shaft length just right, but at 675 #, this does the job on my property.

I did notice that it was made in China, but the quality seems to be there. One minor concern I had was when I went to grease the zerks on the shaft, which are shipped dry, the excess grease only squished out of one of the 4 bearing seals on the U joints. I'll be watching these joints closely as time goes by.

Other than that, this thing is very stout and does an impressive job.

I called TS customer service last night, they emailed me a copy of my receipt (mine is here somewhere?). I'll take it back today, they just opened a Tractor Supply 5 minutes away!
Maybe I'll pay difference for a box blade, or get refund. I'm thinking a 5 or 6 ft. wouldn't bend as easy as this 7. I don't think an exchange would help, and new I shouldn't have to modify, making it better (good idea, but voids warranty).

This you could use as a battering ram , the price reflects that , but that is ball park average on a high quality rear blade!

Looks like a good one!
How about Titan blades? They seem ok, free ship.
I took mine back, Tractor Supply was really nice about it and refunded my money.
I loaded it by myself. Three guys and a forklift they had trouble getting it off the truck! Darn...and young guys that weak today or just lazy!
