What did you do with your JD LCUT today!

I know that there is a thread titled close to this on the SCUT section. So I thought that I would start one on the CUT section since that is what I have. I think there are more posters to the SCUT section of the forum then there are to the other sections so we will see what happens here. This may go nowhere. Maybe we can get some of the CUT members to start posting.

I got to try out my 990 with the 8B BH yesterday for the first time and also got to try out the Bro-Tek thumb that I ordered. I was running at about 1500 RPM and just doing a little digging and rock picking. This is the area I am going to put up a small Pole Barn to temporarily house the 990 and then it will become a wood shed and a storage shed after that. Once that is done then off we go to build a barn. All this stuff takes time. So below are some pictures and also a link to the same pictures and a couple of videos of me running the 8B with one of my sons in the background the other son was running the camera. You can see how rocky the place is (my father would affectionately call it a bone yard). One can also see that some of these rocks, or potatoes as I call them, are pretty big. I got a hold of one of them that had to be over 685 lbs because that is what the boom is rated on the 8B to be able to pick up and it could not do it. Thankfully the dipper is there and can do a little work as well.

Maybe Kbar can offer an opinion here, since I recall he’s used those forest mulchers at work. Just don’t know what kind of a learning curve there is. But no matter what … pictures! I suspect there is a lot of GTT interest in seeing one of those mulching away.

This picture was taken today (from the other direction) after I finished trimming and raking the pond bank.
The pond looks great. But can we talk about that CLEAN Gator? Mine is Carolina red mud brown!

Parked my equipment trailer with the tractor. The grass is slimy because of the recent snow melt, the truck would have made a big mess.

Having a receiver on the fork frame is handy, but darn hard to line up the ball. I need to think about a front camera.

Did a little pre-emergent spraying today. REALLY trying to get in control of the sand burs! HATE THEM!

Mixed the herbicide and sprayed a know sized area to ensure I was spraying at the correct rate, after the known 3 acres I had used 25% more than planned. So ran the sprayer with water to check rate, it is indeed spraying at a rate more than the book states.

Going to make an excel spreadsheet for mixing ratios.

Yes I'm aware the sprayer isn't level. Posted about adding the Pat's quick hitch, added 4" to 3 point arms, had to add to the top link hydraulic cylinder, now it is too long.... Working on new cylinder. Hard to fix one thing without messing something else up.........

The spreadsheet for mixing ratios is so smart. Seems I spend every spraying season with MSDS sheets for at least half an hour. Was looking forward to mowing here today and getting pre-emergent down tomorrow but we've had at least an inch of rain since last night. That's the way it always goes!

I'm hoping to get some rain for my application.

What are you spraying and why?
Always interested in which herbicide people are using for what problem. Sure is different between Houston and Central Texas.

All my grass is fescue. I'm right on the line between zone 7b and 8a making fescue tough to take care of but my horses prefer it. Perennial buttercup is my most obnoxious enemy in the horse pastures. I like to use Crossbow pre-spring to knock that out -- like NOW. Once it gets growing there's no hope. In fact, if the ground doesn't dry enough for me to spray with the tractor in the next two days, the timing is so critical that I'll walk it with a backpack sprayer.

In my yard and natural areas Bermuda grass is awful followed closely by nutsedge. I use Dimension 2EW as my pre-emergent and Sedgehammer for patches of sedge. I'll work Preen into dirt around my perennials constantly throughout the season and guaranteed I'll still have Bermuda encroaching. In the fall, I'll sometimes put down Fusilade right over the top. Timing is important. My fescue needs to be growing well (cool season grass) and the Bermuda starting to shut down for the season for it to be of benefit.

For the last three years, I've used no chemicals whatsoever so I'm really behind the curve. My husband (separated) has Parkinson's and keeping him away from any herbicides was my priority so I tried every natural fix in the books. None of them had any appreciable results. Since he's not here anymore, I'm throwing the entire arsenal at it this year.

Finally put the blower on for a potential snow event. Now that it’s on, we all know the outcome.
A simple 20 minute job turned into an hour with a poor timed regen which would have been beneficial if it ran while chipping last week. Oh well, took a quick spin around the neighborhood.

I was hoping for the same thing to happen a couple weeks ago while I was bush hogging but alas, I didn't have enough load grinding up dead grass and leaves to accomplish that.
