Oh, you meant the blades.......Got it. I didn't think you were talking about the kids being dull..!!!!!!!!
Just joking, of course......:mocking:
The 60d needed some sharpening. I was hoping to make it through the season without, but it started to leave strips so I pulled the blades and put the kids to work. I was really surprised at how dull they were. View attachment 33892 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just imagine the incredible YoU-Tube video that scene with your wife fighting with the young buck would have made.Tons of deer in the woods behind my property. One March I looked out and counted a herd of 25 of them in my backyard. See them all the time. In fact, my wife got into a "fight" with a young buck once. He was into the garden and she went outside to shoo him away. He started to stop his foot and snort at her. She stomped and snorted right back.
Just make sure you don't refer to the tractor as a "her or she" with that beard and all.......:cold:Spent some time brush hogging today, getting a job finished up before the winter. Sure was cold in Upstate NY today, even the tractor decided to grow a beard...

Tonton, I was picturing you considering some explosives to assist in the stump removal......That would really be taking it to the next level......and quickly.:thumbup1gif:At some point I have to make the decision to go all the way, or just get it good enough and let mother nature do the rest. I's location is the problem. If I take it to the next level, there will be no way in and out of my driveway until I am done.
I hope the 14 month old was wearing her seat belt when she pulled you and your wife around on the sled......:thumbup1gif:Hooked the sled to my 1026 and pulled the sled around the yard! Was a blast, I pulled my wife and 14 month old girl, then she pulled us. Haha
The right tool for the job, now that's the trick.Personally, I'd rather get the seat time on Mean Green rather than a chilly ride on a scooter. Although I get the itch every year in the spring to go buy a new scooter, but in the Fall, I'd much rather be on the tractor.
When I mentioned this to The tractor, it replied it would have to "run it past it's people"...:lol:We need a video.
Now you have to share the "Rescue" details with us. Video, if available.....:thumbup1gif:Crap I'm stuck! Literally!
I made sure to ask the dealer I am working with if I would be permitted "Visitation Privaledges" should my pending purchase 1 series need to revisit the dealer for an extended period of time. When he asked what an "extended period of time" would be, of course I looked him right in the eye and said "Well overnight, of course"....."Longer than that and I may need to make sleeping arrangements in the shop as I certainly wouldn't want the tractor to think it had been abandoned".I've been just waiting for my 1023 to return home. She's been gone almost 2 weeks now. I keep looking out the window, wondering if my dealer might be bringing her back home. Wasn't anything major, out of warranty in May, just a few adjustments to be made, while under warranty. I don't want to rush them, so patiently wait. But you boys know how it goes ! Slide comfortably into the saddle, stroke the throttle, get her fired up, listen to that happy purr of a satisfied engine, driving home. You know she's the best. Dan
That is a beautiful setting.......Nice Green Equipment Assortment as well.:bigthumb:Rounded up the herd and put a yard in. Cali helped me spread the straw.

60' long and 15" in diameter.......hmmmmm, since there is a Lab in the picture, I will say more than a cord.....That's quite the supervisor you have helping you.![]()
15" dia oak, or ash( not sure).... this tractor is a life saver....just getting to the tree through a bunch of multiflora rose bushes. the tractor just clears the way , and I hauled out the fresh wood to the splitting site...
getting ready for next seasons fire wood.. tree was at least 60 feet high....how much fire wood you guys think??? 1 cord? or More??
![]()
I am figureing that log is about 900-950 lbs!!
bob
Let's see, I was assuming a 15" diameter and 60' in length and I calculated more than a cord.OOPs that's 25" in dia, NOT 15!!!
ill have to go correct that...
bob
Ah Hah....But didn't the ORIGINAL posting say the tree was 60' long (tall)? :dunno:Some fuzzy math going on here I think....
A cord of wood is 128 cu ft.
The calculation of the 25" diameter log 60" long comes to 17.04 cu ft
So it would take 7.5 of those logs to make a cord.
Can you tell I have too much time on my hands?
The EPA is very concerned about the carbon emissions from all of that air which is burned that is between the pieces of wood when you burn a cord of wood. Expect new rules soon......:laugh:Less actually because a cord of wood is 128 cu ft of stacked wood, meaning that there is a lot of voids (air space) between the pieces.
So the answer is ................More!well the straight section of that tree was at least 30 feet and I bet the tree was still 18" in dia. Ill go ahead and guess I got well more than a cord waiting for me once she is all split up.
there is an auto calculator for cubic feet.. I went ahead and put in 30 feet and I averaged the radius to about .9 feet... that put me at about 76 cubic feet( about 59% of a cord)....of course once the bark starts to fall off, so will my cord size!! ha ha ha
anyway, love that machine!!
really thinking about getting an even bigger JD.
bob
Stan,I really screwed that up then missing the 60' part and calclated for 60".
All in good fun!
I could swear I saw a You Tube Video where Bigfoot was shooting hoops at your place and that last slam dunk knocked the basketball hoop crooked. He even said to the smaller Bigfoot he was playing basketball with that " they will probably blame it on frost heaving anyway"......as they were walking away. :laugh:Frost heaved my basketball hoop so it was crooked. I took it down today so I can expand the hole, add drainage, and reset the pole.

Nice Aluminum Trailer. Very well made, reasonably low to the ground so the tail gate will work as a loading ramp and you can tell it's a top quality unit based upon the finish assembly detail when it was made. Perfect for hauling around the Deere pulling it and even bigger things. It looks like it should have a Gvwr OF 3,500lbs or so and being made from aluminum you retain a lot of load capacity.Tilled my mom's garden today. Then played around on the farm. Is there a specific thread which talks about what led up to your tractor getting the new short block?I broke down and took the snowblower off today. Cleaned it up and stored it away until next winter. I haven't even started the 1026R for a couple weeks. With the warmer temps, she fired up immediately and with hardly a puff of smoke. The new short block is serving us well!
