What is my 1025R worth?

2519 Views 12 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  SulleyBear
Hello all,
I'm toying with the idea of moving up to a 2038R so I would sell my 1025R to help pay for it. My current tractor is:
2018 1025R - 170 Hours
120R Loader
260B Backhoe
Artillian diverter to power a grapple
Summit 2 spool rear remote with separate switches
Hydraulic thumb (see my post 260B Hydraulic Thumb Project)
And a lot of natural goodness from Ken's bolt on hooks

I'd guess quick sale pricing (gone this weekend would be <17k
Fair/will take a reasonable time ~18.5k
Top dollar: 20-21k. (won't be soon, unless you find the perfect buyer.)
In my area (a bit over an hours drive from you) there's a few 1 series on Craigslist from 12-15ish without the BH and 200-400hours. There's also one (TLB- 90hrs) at a non-deere dealer for 22k (if I'm recalling correctly.)

Good luck with the sale if you decide to go that route!

I was at my JD dealer today, they have NO used equipment and very little new equipment. Perhaps its worth asking your dealer about what they would give you on trade as its hard to find people who have $18k to $21K in cash to spend on a tractor.

Most buyers can't or won't get bank loans or credit union loans because of the minimum 4% to 6% interest rate being charged, when the dealer is offering 0% on new equipment. The dealer can offer financing through Deere, even on used equipment (but not at 0% on used), which gives them a sales advantage over you selling it yourself, so it won't hurt to ask.........Plus it give you a benchmark value.....

Interestingly, the tractor's my dealer did have, half of the 1 series had the Versa turf radials on them from the factory. They had a 1025r with the Mauser cab and 3 without the cab. They also had a 2038R and two 3 series with the cabs, and that was it.

My friend in the parts department told me they are seeing a huge shortage in the 2 series tractors because the company that made the lift pumps for them went out of business unexpectedly and Deere doesn't have an alternate supplier source. He said that they have been told that until Deere gets an "approved source" for the fuel lift pumps, apparently the 2 series machines are going to be very hard to get. He said the factory pulled all pumps from dealer parts inventories as well as other sources to try and keep building machines to deliver.

He also said there is a real problem with anything accessory wiring harness related. So if you do order a machine, You might want to order any wiring harness accessories separately so it doesn't delay the machine build..........He said they were told this week that some options would delay new machine delivery "indefinitely" due to the back orders.......

This is great info Sulley. I can’t believe Deere didn’t second source those parts when they were designed. The 2038 I’m looking at is on the lot. Backhoe won’t be in until September but the machine is there with the loader. Power beyond would need to be installed.

As mentioned, finding a buyer with cash in hand is going to be tough, when it is much easier for a cashless buyer to buy new and get financing from JD.

The other issue is sales between private parties are in my experience, "as is". Unless you are willing to underwrite repairs like a warranty for a specified period of time.

There are two prices, what it will sell for and what it may be worth. Often a large percentage difference unless one is willing to wait a LONG time.

I searched for two years finding a low hour, pre emission loader tractor for running an air blast sprayer. Finally found a 2002 Case IH DX33 with 398 hours but I had cash in hand for when I did.

I would think the dealer would give at least 18K, I would ask for 20...They are going to sell it 22K.

The bonus of trading it in, is that you will only pay tax on the difference in price (What is NJ? 8%?) So maybe 800 to 1K savings.

I see them on FB quite often but they don't seem to be selling.

Thanks for your input chex. I'm going to see what the dealer will give me.

Well, I finally heard back from my dealer on a trade in value. $16,400. Apparently the fact that I have the Artillian diverter, Summit SCV and hydraulic thumb doesn’t add much. Although their offer is for the tractor as is with all those goodies.

While your machine is in good shape and could be turned around and sold quite easily by the dealer, they still want to make about 20% on it.That would likely find them selling it for $19,900 and willing to accept a little less.

They don't add value for the Artillian Diverter and other enhancements you mentioned because they are assuming the new buyer might not have a need for them and not willing to pay a premium for them. You could always remove those items and sell separately to recover some of their additional cost. If they aren't crediting any extra value for those options, they shouldn't care if you remove them.
