Says I'm new here but not really. But last Monday I got new Tractor a JD x738 I love it so far but today while backing out of the garage I see a little black hose hanging down under my tractor just in front of mower deck. See in picture and a little bit of something must be dripping. It has no smell. What is that hose and where is it coming from the hose. That valve is the updated oil drain that is a 5 minute deal

Probably a breather or overflow hose for something. Nothing to worry about.

Tracked that down

I see my tractor has paint dots on just about everything that could be checked before delivering the tractor to me. I'm betting they overfill the overflow bottle to the radiator, and that where the hose goes to sorry just me freaking out about something leaking out of a new tractor.

I know this thread is a couple weeks old, but I wanted to chime in. I have this same hose on my x758 and it comes off the bottom of the coolant reservoir. I attached a photo of the radiator diagram for the x738 showing the hose (part #13).

I assume it's simply an overflow hose for the coolant, but I'm not a mechanic! I hope you're enjoying the x738!

Thanks for the picture, and yes I enjoy my x738 I have named it the beast because that's what it is. This tractor can go anywhere I have been cutting a ditch with it it and before I had this tractor I had to use a weed wacker and burn the ditch a couple times a year. The x738 cuts the ditch no problems.
