I need a new pair of the swinging blades for my older John Deere model 609 Rotary Cutter. The dealership says they can't help me unless I can provide them the serial number of the cutter. The serial number was on a plastic sticker that eroded off years ago. It was hand written on the receipt from the dealer and their writing was so sloppy the number isn't discernable. It's the model that uses the hexagonal shaft bolts that hold the swinging blades. I don't know if the blades have changed over the years, but the bolts went from hex to round shaft at some point. Mine are hex. Does anyone know how I can buy new blades without knowing the serial number of the cutter? Dealer won't help me. (Guess they expect me to just buy a new cutter.)

Mine are suction type blades. So they only have a cutting edge on one side. I don't know if there is some advantage in one style over another for general rough-cutting. But I'd rather replace what I am used to using.
