Need to get rid of alders ...hopefully for good ...anybody have any good ideas,I have the 1026r and was thinking of getting a 5ft rotary cutter (MX5) but not sure if that's the right tool ,most alders are around 2.5 inchs . Was wondering if anybody had any tricks to kill the roots after they are knock down.

Cheers and thanks

I've heard that cutting saplings, and painting them with undiluted "Full Strengh" Round-Up would do it. No first-hand knowledge............

An MX5 will be WAY to big and heavy for your machine...you might get away with an LX, but JD recommends a 4" cutter for your tractor.
