Congrats Mark & Michelle.

Now I see why that life-size cut-out wouldn't work well at your home office. :thumbup1gif: But it doesn't change the fact that you're doomed like the rest of us married men

I've been meaning to post this for a while, but life has been getting in the way. But, since SullyBear asked about it in the "2019 GTT Secret Santa" thread, I thought I'd make it official. :yahoo:

So, here's the story.... Sweetie (aka Michelle) and I have been together for over 13 years and we fully moved in together at our current place on December 7, 2010 (yup, Pearl Harbor Day - so I can remember it). I bought her an engagement ring for Christmas 2 years ago. When we started planning when, where and how to get married, all of the sudden everyone else (primarily our siblings) was chiming in with "suggestions" and offering their grandchildren as flower girls and ring bearers. Plus, we were supposed to plan things around their schedules (and their grandkids schedules) so that they could come in from out of town. All of the sudden the excitement of getting married was shot all to crap. Then life got in the way again - my younger daughter was going through some health struggles, of course my parents were declining in the nursing home, work got really busy, etc., etc., etc. In spite of the fact that we'd already bought our wedding rings, we just kind of back burnered things.

Every year we try to go somewhere for a vacation during the last week of October. Part of that is because we like to celebrate Halloween somewhere fun! Let me tell you - Halloween in Key West or New Orleans is quite the party! The last few years we've been going to a great little place in Ft. Myers Beach, FL. That town has a great, laid back vibe and it's become our go-to place. Oh, and why do we celebrate Halloween? Because HALLOWEEN IS SWEETIE'S BIRTHDAY! :good2:

This year as we were packing I said "Go ahead and pack our rings. We just might do something while we're down there." So, that's what we did. Since I'm too old to remember another important date, we got married on Halloween - her birthday! :good2::yahoo: With the blessing of our children, it was just the two of us, on the beach, at sunset. IT WAS AWESOME!!

As of today, 42 days of wedded bliss! :bigthumb:

It's truly been the bright spot of a really tough year for us. My daughter was in the hospital twice this year and continues to struggle with health issues. Her (Michelle's) younger son unexpectedly spent a week in the hospital as well. We lost my dad on March 28 and just lost Mom on November 21. And now the father of her two sons (her ex-husband who we are on good terms with) is in the hospital and they just discovered a mass on his pancreas. So, I will gratefully accept your well wishes, but we would both love a prayer or two for our kids and her ex-husband as well.
Mark, congratulations.
You two are a beautiful couple and I wish you the best of luck.

Congratulations Mark & Michelle, and eloping is the best thing you could do to make the day as stress free and enjoyable as possible. :good2: My wife and I went to the local courthouse and had the judge marry us. Best decision we made as it kept things simple.

Besides Halloween being your wife's birthday and now anniversary; you two will never mix up the monogrammed towels. :drinks:

My wife's TV show ended on 12-08-2019.

You know the saying, "Happy wife, happy life" usually includes watching TV shows, etc we don't like or have little interest in. Well, hot damn; her always left leaning TV show, 'Madam Secretary' finally ended for good! :yahoo: I could tolerate it until the episode where the Hildebeest was playing herself aired a year or two ago. After that episode I groaned whenever it came on and flipped it off
while my wife was watching when it went all SJW (Social Justice Warrior, aka Tofu Warrior) or other leftist nonsense.

I'd share the pornographic name I had for the show; but I don't want a trip to the GTT woodshed.
