Driving around on a beauty Saturday just west of Calgary. Thought I'd show you guys where I'd go if I ever just say effitall. (Sound it out)...... Me and the mrs, couple rugrats, a few horses, couple dogs, my tractor, tools, and my guns on 40ac and I'd be alright.

Why does no one tell you when you're 21 that along with being highly trained/specialized comes a very narrow list of options for places to live?? Maybe my guidance counsellor would've been more useful telling me that, rather than insisting that I couldn't be a military pilot, or anything worthwhile, because i stopped taking French in grade 10. I've seriously considered doing family medicine training so I'm more mobile, and less dependent on the socialist Canadian Health care system that dictates how, where, and when I can practice my craft.

The pic is taken from an area called Springbank, a rural community that is now almost part of Calgary. It's gorgeous, as are all of the foothills, from northern Montana all the way up to Grande Cache.

Just like no one told me that instead of buying a new $2500 fast car, I could buy 10 or 15 acres of land. I enjoyed all of the fast cars but right now I could be enjoying the income from 60 or 70 acres of dirt, sitting over natural gas.

I may get slapped for writing this here, but the US Government may have the market cornered on that product.

I thought it originated in Lyme Conn. Thus the name Lyme disease. Please elaborate on this mysterious Island off NY.

The order of thoughts which went through my brain when I read this comment

1. Jesse Ventura actually has a T.V. show?

2. Does anyone really watch it?

3. Does it have more "fake wrestling" as it can't be his mental strenghts that would be entertaining....

4. I guess with unlimited t.v. channels comes unnecessary and unwanted t.v. programing.....

Isn't that the "luxurious" island which was offered to Hanibel Lechter in exchange for his assisting Jodi Foster in finding "Buffalo Bill"? Reported to be home to the governments testing of viruses, etc?

It was (is?) not that bad a show. Jesse is actually a semi-bright guy. I guess you have to have some grey matter between your ears to be elected the Governor of Minnesota running as an Independent/Libertarian.

Don't worry Diesel, I can't see your tin foil hat from here.

After the "former gov's" lawsuit against Chris Kyle's estate and his relentless pursuit of Kyle's widow over his alleged defamation case caused me to lose the 0.0001% respect I may have had remaining for Ventura.

I certainly couldn't stomach watching him after that miscarriage of justice......

I understand your sentiment regarding the case. I personally don't care either way (not for or against either man), that was their business to sort out and unfortunately Kyle was murdered before it was all finished.

I think so. The rumor is that they created Lyme Disease there, and then it 'escaped' to Maine or Vermont or New Hampshire....

I wiki'd it - Plum Island it's called. They assassinate ALL mammals found there..... for fear of zoonotic disease transfer.

I wonder if Clarice would've visited him there??

Jer:

My hindsight is 20-20, even through my jeans.

If you ever get tired of the cold winters of Canada; we have 35-acres about 40-miles east of Denver we're trying to sell that is similar to the picture you posted. We get Alberta Clippers during the winter if you get homesick.

One of these days I'll bet you prescribe these pills to yourself.

Bloody hell..... you're teasing me. Colorado is one of my favorite places on earth. Love the mountains, the attitude, the scenery. Wyoming could do it for me too, or parts of Idaho.

You know anyone looking for a guy that does an ACL in 40 minutes, or a cuff in under an hour??

I think my Rx for fukitol will come in the form of opening a private clinic. I'm 36 now, so far too young to quit entirely. I do like my craft, but hate the BS, and I have a new tractor to pay for, but I'd really like to offer a more accountable and available service for patients up here, the concern being that I wouldn't have enough work 'cause most Canadians are appalled by the thought of paying for their healthcare, even if it means waiting 4 days instead of 4 months or 14 months........any feedback on this would be appreciated - cause if enough of you say that you would pay, I'M DONE!!!! The way it works here is that the moment that I accept direct payment from a patient, I can never bill the public system ever again......

Hey Jer, while you're putzing around would ya mind fixing my shoulder? I'll chop it off and mail it to you. You fix it and send it back good as new, m'kay?

I always wanted a couple dozen acres up in Maine but after visiting the Spokane, WA area I started wondering of that might be a better idea. Someplace quasi-remote with lots of trees.

Sure. You handle the customs..... Two week turn around. Sometimes it's better to just swap it out, so there'll be a 200$ credit for the Core.

Hahahahahahahahhaha

In all seriousness, we've talked a lot about offering surgical services up here to Americans, either direct pay, or through their insurance, as it seems we can provide it quite a bit cheaper than you guys can usually get it south of the 49th.

FYI, an Ortho resident in the US did a study where she called all over the US getting a quote for her fictitious grandmother's total knee replacement. Any guesses on range she found???

Approx $12,000 to over $130,000!!!!!
