Where to start a build?

I have wanted to build a hot farm class tractor for awhile now. What tractor would be a good all around foundation and what steps would you take to get there? I’ve joined a lot of groups and read dozens of other forum post. everything is so scattered and it’s always just a fraction of the puzzle. Thanks

I enjoy watching tractor pulls but never had the interest in building one and never got into the details. I've see "souped up" 7hp riding mowers in pulls and I've seen "things" that kinda look like a tractor with 4 diesel engines in pulls. Somewhere there are rules for classes determined by HP?, weight?, don't know! But this would be your starting point. What "class" do you want to run in. Determining that, you can follow what the "competition" is running and go from there.

Next would be budget! I doubt if you'd have a problem with building a $500 7hp riding tractor, but a $250,000 multi-engine puller may be an issue.

About all I've got, but it's your starting point! Bob

Yes, I guess it depends on where we’re from on what it’s called.
I agree with @rwmeyer , it's always easier to get the regulations, understand them, and build to the regulations. It's much harder and more costly to build something and then try and make it fit into the regulations.
I started my build back in 2008 when I bought these puller tires and wheels fer cheap. That's as far as I got though. Tried them on my custom 1/2N for a bit but it only has a 7 HP Kohler so not a lot of dust flying when it cuts loose. Still got the tires. Thought about sticking them on my 420 but when I rolled one over to see how it would fit it was taller than the fender lip. Would have hit on the inside too. The front to back angle would have been such that I'd have still felt like I was mowing downhill going up a slope.
