Which cutter and box blade size for 3039R?

So, Im finally on the home stretch of purchasing a new 3039R. Tractor will have 320R loader with standard bucket, CID rake grapple, OEM 3rd SCV, rotary cutter, and box blade. My question is which size blade and cutter for a 3039R? Dealer is currently recommending a RC2060 5 foot cutter, and 5 foot blade. My fear is if I one day add wheel spacers that I will want that extra foot. What do y’all recommend?

R4 or R1? R4 tires are really gonna limit the ability to drag a 6ft box blade full of material.
Probably a 5ft cutter and a 6ft box blade, to cover the widened stance. There are 66" box blades available too. You've got the PTO HP for a 6ft cutter but its a big implement (overall size) in that width.

It has the R4 tires.

I would still go 6ft BB, and just be more conservative with the use.
I have the Land Pride FDR 1660 60" on mine and it works well for fine cutting. It works fine when I venture into the weeds once in a while and even some scrub oak shoots from where I took out the trees.
Hell, you might be okay with a 6ft cutter....
I'm running a 66" Frontier with the hydraulic rippers. As long as I don't try to go too deep with all the rippers on a single pass, it does a fine job with 3046R and R4s.
So basically what I’m hearing is, a 3039R can run a 6 ft cutter or box, but a 5 foot would be easier on the machine and more compact. Decisions, decisions!
3039R with limited-traction R4's. (loaded with one set of wheel weights)

You can do a lot with a 6' box blade as long as you aren't in mud.

I have 5' rotary cutter and it just covers the rear wheel track (no spacers). If you are going to put spacers on it, something to consider - you can cut 5' with a 6' cutter if the stuff gets too tall/thick.

I would recommend a 5' box blade for the tractor. I used to have a tractor about the size of the 3039R with unfilled ag tires and it ran out of traction well before it ran out of power (~30 HP) when using a 6' box blade. It struggled quite a bit to use the blade. I would recommend filled tires if you want to try to use a 6' blade with a 3039R. If you have industrial tires, I would absolutely not use a 6' blade as it will perform even worse than with ag tires.

You have enough power to run a 6' cutter but a 5' cutter is going to be about the width of that tractor and will be more maneuverable than one that sticks out more on the sides. It doesn't really matter if the sides of the cutter are a few inches inboard of your tires as the cutter will move laterally a little bit anyway as you move, and you typically don't get right tight close to things with that piece of equipment. I run a 6' unit on a 5075E and consider it to be a pretty good match for that physical size of tractor, which is noticeably larger than a 3039R. It's a few inchest narrower than the tractor, so if I don't hit poles and posts with my tires, I won't whack them with the cutter. It isn't so long and heavy that the tractor feels it hanging back there on the 3 point. And it isn't really all that small either, I cut about 40 acres of fallow fields with it in the last week to get rid of the locust trees and brambles, and it took about two good days is all. Yes, I could have gotten a 15' batwing and been done in one day but it would have been much more difficult to maneuver around edges and utility poles and such.

You would need to let us know what you are trying to cut to be able to give you a good recommendation. Particularly if you are cutting ditches or other tighter areas, you A lighter cutter like the Frontier RC series would be fine in a field that gets cut at least every year or two and doesn't have more than finger-sized saplings and brambles. If your fields haven't been cut in several years like mine and have 1 to 1 1/2" diameter small trees, you will want something heavier like an MX5. I would stick with an MX5 if you want a heavier cutter as an MX6 is going to be a lot of weight on the 3 point compared to the MX5 and in my experience with a tractor that size, it may be a bit dicey if you have hills. If you have trees 2+ inches in diameter, I recommend a chainsaw.

Primarily I will be cutting several pieces of land, 3-6 acres each mainly grass and weeds, which are routinely cut. But, I would like to leave options for myself to use this rig to cut land for other people for profit. The box blade will be used to help me shape and prep land and driveway for a future home site. This land has been stumped and rough graded already, but I need to fill in some low areas. I’d love to get the MX cutter, but I believe financially it won’t be in the cards.

I always thought the rule was a foot of cutter needed 5 hp. I think I’d go 6 foot.

The MX5 is about a grand more than the RC2060, about $3k list vs. $2k list.
