According to JDparts.com:

Deere Part # M71939 = NGK BMR6A IF your engine is a FD611V-AS01, FD611V-BS01, FD611V-CS01, FD611V-DS01 or FD611V-ES01

OR

Deere Part # M802138 = NGK BPR5ES, IF your engine is a FD611V-FS01

I am 99% sure that both plugs are 13/16".

13/16 probably is the wrench size for both. They do have different thread lengths I believe which is the biggest difference.

Will the thread length be a problem?

Yes. To short and it runs poor. To long, and you get a vent in your piston.

The owner's manual doesn't say how often to replace the spark plugs. When I start the engine it runs fine, but the moment I engage the 54" mower deck, the engine runs rough. Sounds like its missing. In time it goes away, but hard cutting grass when the rpm is reduced by half.
NGK says hex size is different.
Reach is a lot different -- don't use the wrong one.

The owners manual states to inspect plugs every 100 hours or yearly - whichever comes first. Checking is simply cleaning, ensuring they’re not cracked or broken, and setting the correct gap. Personally, I replace them yearly as part of the home maintenance kit as it’s cheap enough to do it all.

As for your issue with the PTO engaged, the owners manual states 1) faulty spark plug 2) stale fuel 3) engine rpm too low 4) travel speed too fast 5) debris wrapped around mower spindles.
