Who is waiting for truck prices to drop?

Are you waiting? Are you buying? Are you doubling down on your current truck? New or used what are your plans?
And who can truly AFFORD these new truck prices?

Normally I'd be looking for a new truck starting this summer, nope. I usually get a new vehicle every four years, I don't think that's going to happen for at least 4 more years. Can't justify going backwards in comfort or buying the new equivalent at 80k+. Got close 20% off MSRP in '19. Definitely not spending 5-10% over msrp.

I’m keeping my truck (2015 F150 Lariat) as long as I can. I refuse to get involved with the market the way it is. Doubtful that it will ever go back to the way it was 3-4 years ago.

I just so happened to look at my local dealer’s website yesterday. They don’t even list any prices on any of their vehicles now. No way would I go in there and ask.

At these prices, they can keep ‘em. Quality is down too. Longevity doesn’t seem to come into the equation for some manufacturers anymore.

Nope not me. Would I like a new one yes but I'll keep my 08 F150 owes me nothing.

Right? I’m sitting around 75k miles and poked my head around, nope, no way. Same equipped truck is now $15k more than I paid three years ago and all the dealer lots here are stuffed like turkeys.

I happened to find a dealer (Friend of a friend) that will sell me a new truck under msrp. Around 5k under. I know it's not allot but when you need a new truck it sure beats the alternative.

Just going to the lot and you'll be paying 5-10 over msrp. 80k and up. I found that if I order a F350 I can get it in the low 70k range. That's what I did and I am currently waiting on it. Ordered in December.

I'm hoping my '99 outlasts me. I don't even want to think about what it would cost to replace a 4wd, 4door, 8ft bed , dually w/454.

Not only that but some trucks are coming in missing certain features. I know for a fact one item with F150’s are heated steering wheels. If you order a truck with that it will come without and the sticker shows a discount of $140.

There may be other things but that one stuck out for me. If I ever bought a new truck that’s one option I would want that I don’t have now.

The lariat I ordered has a multicontour seat removal line item. I didn't even know the lariat had them but it would have sure been nice to have massage seats.

Due to the chip shortage

Glad I bought mine when I did. Mine is a 2020 and will be awhile before I’ll be looking at new. Only use when I need to tow.

No new rides here for awhile. My truck (2019 2500HD) is almost paid off, I don't like the new GM body styles (especially the mirrors on the door skins), don't like the new colors, etc. Still love mine, and it's only got 63k on it.

I bought a 2022 Tacoma last July. Didn't pay over MSRP. And while I didn't pay much under MSRP, the dealer also ended up giving me $6K over Blue book for my trade in (which he turned around and sold without doing ANYTHING to it in under a week. They didn't even vacuum the carpets!)

I don't have any need for another truck for the next 10 years or so.

I'm not fancy; I don't need a heated steering wheel or massaging seat :ROFLMAO: in a pickup truck! I upgraded from a 2018 F150 to a 2011 Tundra for increased reliability. When this truck eventually gives up the ghost (should be >10 years), I'll be looking for a 2020 Tundra (or similar age; before they stopped offering the V8). We pay cash for our vehicles, since they depreciate (Dave Ramsey).

I have a older 06 f350 flatbed with roll up windows, its not fancy but ill bet riding a donkey down the highway is more comfortable than it. My guys and I put allot of miles a year on the road, having some creature comforts is always appreciated. I also have a 17 f350 dually that is an XLT. It gets the job done and I was looking in getting an xlt but by the time I added some things it was 2k away from lariat so for the resale sake I went with it.

Debt is dumb, cash is king, and the paid-off home mortgage has taken the place of the BMW as the status symbol of choice
Just finishing my second round of FPU as a leader type role. Keep on keepin on!

But to the OP post, i have no idea how anyone can afford these vehicles, especially when they're not a contractor or use the vehicle for business. Even a mini van is north of 50K now. Guess i'll keep my 06 odyssey for another year... Some of these new trucks cost more than most of our first homes! Unreal!

Yessir. Wife's car is paid for. My truck is 99% paid for by work and I pay the registration and insurance. And I'm STILL poor! o_O I just can't understand how anyone can afford anything. This is the primary reason I could buy my 2038R, which is nearly paid for, and I could sell it today for what I bought it.

I used to buy a new truck every 3 yrs no matter what. But now, there is no way I am paying $90K for a new one. My 2016 F250 with just under 100k miles on it, is fantastic. Sits in my garage most of the time anyway since I have a work truck. If I buy another one, it will be a used F550 or F450 so I can get a truck camper or large travel trailer. Only will buy what I can pay cash for. Hell, I only paid $49K for mine in 2017(model change year) as it was a left over 2016($62K sticker). I can sell it for today for what I paid for it. Plus, I really don't want the payment.
