Looking for owner manual for my 4100 and for the 410 loader. Also WTB side decals for the 4100 hood; and a 5' or 6' landscape rake (for local pu in the Pa/Delaware/Md area).

Not sure I should have it, but I also may be interested in a ROPS bar for the 4100. Mine did not come with one.

Check eBay for the manuals. I found both operators manuals and the tech manual for the tractor for not much $. I'd buy the decals from Green Farm Parts and use the gtt discount, I doubt you'll do better on the price and their service is great. For the landscape rake check your local craigslist. One will turn up eventually, this time of year is good as people start cleaning things out after the winter. I've seen ROPS turn up on both eBay and CL but it may take a while and you might have to travel a bit. There are also some tractor scrap yards around that might be worth calling. You'll get different opinions about ROPS but most think you should use it. Things can go south very quickly, why not increase your chances of staying injury free.

Thanks for the replies, and suggestions. I have been looking on CL and ebay, almost to the point of exhaustion. So far, I haven't turned up anything on the rake. Went to TSC today, and looked at their CountyLine rakes. I'm not too convinced that their method of attaching tines, is very good, or the quality of the steel. I'll keep looking for a while, until I am pushed to make a decision.

I did find one manual for the 410 loader, but didn't know that they are s/n specific, so I'll need to check more on that.

If you PM me the loader serial # I'll let you know when I find the manuals. I got both user manuals for $10 - $15 delivered and think the tech manual was about $50 shipped. My 4100 was a bit rusty when I got it and I did buy some used parts from a scrap yard in the midwest. There were several ROPS available when I was looking so I'd think there would still be a few around. I check eBay and CL almost daily so I know that some of this stuff turns up on a regular basis.

The loader serial # break is - 8801, and 8802 -.

Thanks eastcreek. I did some more research this AM, and ordered (what I think) to be the correct manual for the 410. The number on tag is partly scraped right near the center, so the dash is where I am not sure whether there should be a number. Tag reads *W00410-***007*

I do have the 595 page technical shop manual, so I'm good there, and I obtained a free copy of the 4100G manual (gear transmission). Mine is a hydrostatic drive, so I don't have that part of the manual, but everything else is pretty much the same.

Today I changed the oil & filter, air filter (and checked the secondary air filter.. it was like new). Found and greased 17 grease fittings; removed the battery, wire-brushed, sanded, & primed the battery tray and surrounding metal, and fabricated a new glow-plug timer, to replace the defective OEM timer that JD wants $100 for. (I used a general purpose programmable timer that I had on hand, from my old security equipment inventory :) And if I didn't have one, they are less than $10 new.

I have it set to 15 seconds, but it can be adjusted to anything from 1 sec, to 2 minutes. I think 15 sec is about right, but we'll see when the weather gets real cold again. Just need to get a plastic mini-box tomorrow, to mount it in.

Still have more to do, but I'm anxious to get'er ready, as I have some cleanup work to get started on. \

Do you know if all the 4100's were sold new, with the ROPS? Again, that you for your help.

Did you get this off Craigslist on the Eastern Shore? I saw a 4100 on there a while back and it didn't have the rops. Also I just replaced my glow plug controller. It was $70 at a local marina that services yanmars.

I think that earlier 4100's had timed glow plugs but later ones and 4110's had glow plugs that are only energized when the starter is energized. The work around is to either put it in gear or engage the PTO which will cut out the starter while you hold the key in the start position to energize the glow plugs. After 8-10 seconds or so put it in neutral or turn off the PTO and it should start right up. From the loader serial # I'd guess your tractor is a '98 or '99.

$70 was a good price for that timer. I never thought of checking the marina, especially around here, as they are not know for discount prices. But the Altronix time I used, soes the job, and all I will have in it, is the cost of a plastic project box and 115 about minutes.

Oh, and yea, that's the one on CL.

That's a good tip on putting the tractor in gear before hitting the start switch. I have a Kubota engine in the mower, and I have to turn the key CCW, hold it for 10-15 sec, then start, so I am already use to that. I might not have installed the timer if I had thought about it.

Did they build 4100's in 1998? Thought I read that they were only 99-01. I figured I have a 99, but now not sure. Does s/n reveal?
