I am looking at an X324 Lawn Tractor with 48" mower 22 hp,etc. that has 550 hours on it. Appears to be in good shape. Person selling is someone I know and trust. He is asking $1000. Please give me some feedback on this machine.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Best regards,

Assuming the tractor is in good mechanical and cosmetic shape 1k for that machine is probably a decent deal. If it has just been used to mow the lawn with very little towing that is best.

If the owners lawn is hilly or generally steep just politely walk away. The vast majority or lawn tractors are made for flat lawns and the x300s are no different. 550hrs of hills for that transmission is about all it's got before it starts to loose power.

The x300s are great lawn mowers. Plenty of power and comfort. They really just don't like doing much more than that.

wjmopar,

The X324 does indeed have the K58B transaxle (the same as my early X304...) which is a much more robust drivetrain than the other lawn tractors of this series -- see the chart below:

I have over 500 hours on my X304 and it is still performing as a desirably handy mower due to its all wheel steer and resultant tight turning circle that avoids most reversing and messing about with the RIO switch. Both the prior 2.3 acre property and the acre on the golf course had hills to mow and no issues there. It has pulled a tank sprayer and a small trailer, but no heavy hauling or snow duties.

I added rear anti-scalp wheels on the deck of the X304 -- the X324 should have a deck that already has these...

Chuck

I have the factory manual TM2308 which also covers the X324 model, so if you need specific info I can likely provide an excerpt...

That's a very good deal. K58 tranny is very good, 550 hours is nothing for that Engine/tranny combination as long as it has received proper maintenance.

Did you buy it yet? If not, please let us know where it is! ;)

In all seriousness, sounds like a great deal to me as well, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it if I were in the market. I am assuming that "knowing and trusting" the owner means that it's been properly maintained.
