Does anyone know if there is a better seat, or possibly some heavier springs for the factory seat on a X500?

At 6'3", 260#, the OEM seat leaves something to be desired. Just having some actual spring action would be an improvement...

The one on my X540 is great. I'm 5'11" 280# and only have the factory springs in the middle position.

I know. You have what they call the 2 piece seat. The BIG seat is one of the reasons that I went with the 540 vs 530 that also had the power steering and deck lift feature I wanted. Don't know what this seat cost but it might be worth upgrading if you plan on keeping your tractor a while.

The arm rests are an option. I got the tractor slightly used with 4 hours on it. The previous owner had them installed. Seeing you have to drill holes in the seat to install them I won't be removing them. I mostly use them to get on or off the tractor.

When I got the tractor the seat suspension springs were set all the way to the rear. I figured with my big butt it couldn't ride any better. I even read about and considered adding a second set of springs to help support the extra weight. One day for the hell of it I tried moving the springs forward. To my amazement the middle position actually worked better. The seat had more give when going over bumps. Maybe you should give it a try.

Interesting, my 2009 X540 came with the two piece seat.

I think 2010 was the last year for the 2 piece seat on the 540/534 tractors. After 2011 it only came on the 530/500's. The 2 piece seat is also used on all the X3xx tractors and the S240. However every now and then you see a tractor with an odd ball seat on it.

As soon as I sat on the big seat I was sold. Didn't even have to drive it but 4'. lol

I saw a new seat on GreenPartsStore.com. But at almost $600, a little pricey to by "blind". Has anyone here tried this seat? Or the Big Boy seat from TSC?

Can you post some pictures of them? I know some of the 2 piece seats (reclining back) for the X7xx & 1025 tractors can get expensive. You can also get similar seats to the JD factory ones but in black instead of yellow. A while ago some peep posted that he got one for his 700 series machine. It was like $200 cheeper because it was black instead of yellow. Personally I would not be caught dead with a black seat on my green tractor.

Wow. What a statement. Do you know that many of us have done this? Yeah I guess saving $200
for someone who has bad back and on limited income is a bad thing.

I know what you are saying. Got to go with what you could afford. Black would look better than yellow with cracks and foam sticking out everywhere.

The GFP seat is off the 700 series tractors. I didn't even know you could put one on a 500 series tractor. The dealer had a 730 with that seat in stock when I bought my 540. Honestly I didn't even sit on it because that tractor was way out of my price range.

Not sure about the TS seats. Some models look exactly like what came on certain older Simplicity tractors. Back before they came out with the mesh seating surface. They all have black seats from the factory. Then what kind of mods would you need to do to make it fit?

The Amazon seat looks like an aftermarket replacement for probably the most common tractor seat JD ever installed. It came on all kinds of different equipment over the years. I'm sure that it would mount up but unsure how much more comfortable it would be.

Just happened to stop by my local dealer today. They had a nice new X758 sitting out front. Figured what the heck and climbed on to check the seat out. Pretty nice if I must say so. My only complaint is that the seat could move back on the track a little further. The reclining back is a nice feature. Now for the real question. Is it $600 nice? I'd be willing to upgrade if I was buying again but wouldn't layout the money otherwise. However I'm totally happy with my X540 seat. If I wasn't maybe it would be a different story.

I looked around at the sea of other lesser tractors. Man they put that 2 piece stationary (non reclining back) seat on a lot of tractors. One thing I never noticed before. The same set sits totally different on the S240 tractor. It's in more of a reclinined position. Looks like the difference is in the mounting base. The 300's have the same kind of mounting as the 500's. On the 100's the base is totally different.

My picture of the 758 didn't take but this 750 has the same seat.

I have a 2016 X-758 bought it last year it is now 13 months old and has 123 hours . I am soon to be 70 years old every thing about my body hurts . The tractor rides very soft but my lawn is in good condition the seat is a good one not great .
I run the tires very low on air that helps a bunch . I mowed today after three days of rain the grass was tall spent three hours in the seat and stopped for coffee then two more hours and done no problems at all . I mow a lot of grass at three different homes I do zero in the winter .
