So I am pretty happy with the Tractor Shovel I recently added to my X590.
After some brief use I realized it needed some modification. I thought I would share the concept for all of you that want to make it slightly more useful.
The shovel in stock form works great but I needed to do some brush and small tree clearing at the rear of my lot, so I added some cutter teeth. The tooth bar bolts on (and yes all the teeth are bolted on on account of me not yet acquiring a mig welder). But she rips and cuts hard pack soil and monster briars like a banshee! Next up I will be fabing a skid plate for the hydraulic steering component and PTO - just in case i get a bit too cowboy with it...

When you do get a welder weld some sacrificial steel in front of your bolts to take the brunt of the wear and the bolts will last a lot longer

Yea- A bucket with no teeth is fine for the average home owner's snow and mulch but I seem to always be pushing the envelope with my yard machines.
Agree. Can't wait to add teeth to my bucket. I'll probably take the easy route and buy from HeavyHitch though. :)

Pretty good work on the self-fab! Looks like it will hold up well.

Best,

I guess my thought did not come across correctly. It is good the teeth are bolted on because eventually a tooth will be damaged and you can replace it by unbolting it. As far as the bolts themselves, my skid steer buckets the wear edges bolt on and I have never damaged a bolt. On my tooth bucket the teeth are held on with spring pins.
