Hi all -

Long time lurker of the forum. This is my first post. I read about everything that came up on rear mount brackets. It seems that we have a lot of aftermarket options and of course the JD OEM option. After finding an awesome quickhitch bracket that uses the hydraulics for a front mount dethatcher that was less than the OEM manual bracket I started having buyers reconsideration. I figured I should make a quick post to make sure I didn't miss something.

Is there an after market bracket that is better than the OEM option? Do any of said brackets have multi functional benefits that I haven't seen?

My ballast application is for snowblowing immediately but I see a CTC FEL in my near future.

Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you all for your contributions. This FORUM is a real GEM!

My first post on this forum and its a dud. I should have asked should I go with a bolt on or click n go bracket. The decision is pretty simple if you have the click n go brackets already installed for a bagger or the like of. The aftermarket solutions on the forum that are still available seem to have no secret benefits.

I'm going to go with the standard BM20779. OEM I found on Amazon for $175.97.

I am moving on to find some suitcase weights. I saw a post that Home Depot typically has the best price. I'll add a post of I find a better option.

I picked up two weights from one of the online stores when they still had free shipping. The Home Depot price is about $5 more, but you can have them delivered free to your local store. I bought two more from HD after the online stores quit free shipping on these due to the weight. I have the Click-n-Go setup on my X738 and use the Click-n-Go weight bracket - works just fine.

Just to close the loop on the suitcase weights. Home Depot has the for $64 free shipping as of today. I was able to get them for $59.84 delivered from my local Deere dealer. I saw a few eBay posts that have them for $60 free shipping if you buy 3 or more but they come and go so no link.

4 weights isn't going to cut it with a loader.I have 8 suitcase weights on a Heavy hitch and sometimes it makes the back end feel light.

I also see you have your rear wheels weighted. I’m going to see how the 6 weights work for starters. Thanks for the information!

One advantage of the click n go bracket is it keeps the weights close to the tractor (compared to 3pt hitch weight brackets) for a reduced overall tractor length for both tractor storage or maneuvering in tight spots. 4-6 will be plenty without a loader.

The one thing I have found with my heavy hitch is I can position the weights differently for diffrent needs.

In the pic below I was not doing any heavy loader work so I have the weights tucked up inside my HH. If I am going to do heavy work I spin them (like in TJR’s pic above) and it moves the center of mass back about 8 inches. It also makes a difference if I have the 3pt up or straight out behind me. The weights on the hitch are working across a lever (hitch and tractor frame) the fulcrum is the rear tires. The further back the weight the greater the load that is counter balanced and pulled off the front axle.

Tire weights help for traction but do not counter balance a front end load.

I have the click n go system but have never used it. Installed a 3pt hitch and never looked back. Prior to my x739 I used a 425AWS. Loved that tractor, but kicked myself for not getting the 3pt hitch. A 3pH is just so darn useful.. Then I looked at both the Heavy Hitch and the Omni Hitch. I opted for the omni hitch because of the vertical reese receiver and things you can put in there (like their basket). With the 425 I only had 2 weights: another mistaked. Now I use 8 suitcase weights for snow plowing. The can be faced to the tractor or away. Away you get more rear load balancing but are a bit longer. Love my Omni hitch. Also use it to tow my garden trailer.

Great information. Much appreciated. Do you run a fel? I should probably start a new thread but I’m interested in weight ballast requirements. I am leaning towards a CTC but I can get a 45.

I do not use a FEL. I have a bigger tractor for that and these GTs are just not heavy enough for a loader. I do use the 48 plow blade. I've moved snows 2' deep with it with good efficiency.

I like the CTC blade, but a bigger blade will mean that deep snows might be more difficult. I find the 48 just fine, plus I've had it for 25 years now :)
