Hello. I am curious and can’t seem to find any info to my question. I’m using the black mower leveling tool that came with the tractor. The manual says where to measure the hight of the deck. On one side I have a black trim at the bottom of my deck. ( I think it’s a leaf guard or something like that) on the other side there is no bar. This bar appears to be positioned lower but the manual does not specify anything. It just says the tool should just slide under the deck. See photos and let me know your thoughts. Should I do as per the manual or take in account the black trim and eyeball level to the deck minus thickness of that bar if this makes any sense thank you for your time

First make sure all the tires have the correct pressure.

Then I always parked on a flat and level spot and measured from the mower blades to the floor. Turn the mower blade so it is closest to the left side and measure there, then turn the other outside blade to the deck opening and measure there. Once it is level from side to side, turn the blade pointing to the front and repeat to level it front to rear.
Since the blades do the actual cutting, I always measure and set level to the blades after moving them to the left and right respectively.

This is how I’ve always done it with all my mowers. And to add when doing the front to rear you want the rear of the blades 1/4” than the front.

A very handy tool for just this -

I use a small piece of plastic pipe that I cut to about 3-1/2"......that way both sides are exact. That gauge may be hard to read as you stand on your head or drop to your knees and there is the possibility of being off if you don't look from the same angle. I just place the pipe under one blade then lower the deck until it makes contact, then check the other side and use the supplied T-wrench to tweak to match. And then double check both sides again. Pretty easy.

You don’t stand on your head to read it as the end you read will be outside of the deck.

Plus as stated above you want the front and rear of the blades to read differently.
The bar on your right side is a blowout for the PF blower. Without it it'll leave a strip of grass when bagging without it. I use the Deere gauge on the blades as others suggested. Get two, it's easier when you have to go side to side making adjustments.
