Hello all my first post here so I hope I posted this to the right section.

I have a Z225 that is leaking oil out of the bottom of the motor, I believe it is

the crackshaft seal.. But i'm not 100 percent sure, the leak is right by the oil filter

but the oil filter itself is not leaking. Anyway i'm looking to tear it down and check everything.

The mower will run then shut of after it is warm, oil level is full I always check it.

One thing to note last year when my brother attempted to mow the grass at the house he some how knocked the drain plug off

and drained out all the oil! not realizing he did this he tried to start it and that's how all these problems developed. I was quoted

500-600 dollars to repair it which I could buy a newish motor for that much. I want to do it myself I am mechanically inclined but

I am looking for diagrams for the process and of course any advice you all are willing to share is much appreciated. The motor is the Bridges

and Stratton 18.5HP.

You might want to check out JDparts.com it is the same system that the parts guys use. it is free and the parts breakdowns diagrams that may be helpful for you. I would suggest getting the tech manual if you plan on taking the repairs.

cool, man thank you very much! I'll take a look, I might just replace the engine, found one brand new with warranty for cheap on ebay. But I do want to fix that engine to either sell or save it for future reference.
