Any new thoughts on the 2017-18 Z540R? I've been doing 5 acres of once upon a time rough pasture for 13 years with a 2305 and 5' RFM. A couple of times with a 48" 324 AWS has me considering other options. The quality of the cut before the rear wheels and better overlap control make that 48 seem bigger. Okay, the youngest kid is done with college and the Kawasaki on the 324 has an attractive pitch to it. I'm looking at an Edge 60" deck and mulch on demand if I go with a Z540R. I'm also thinking about some seat suspension right off the bat. I've learned that the hard way with the 2305.

I had a similar story. I had a 2305 w/ 72” MMM and now have a 1026R w/ 62” MMM. I was tired of getting the MMM on/off and wanted a smoother and more pleasant mow. I cut with a z655 a couple times (which is basically the 540r) and liked it, and it certainly was better than the 1026R w/ MMM. If you are spending that level of money then a Ferris is700z is really nice with it’s suspension (to say nothing of the is2100z). I went that path and find it’s right to be much better than the z655 was. It has front and rear suspension (not as good as the 2100, but still... it has it), and a sprung suspended seat. I love it.

So I think you would like the 540r a lot, but there might be something even better for soaking up the bumps and divots of mowing a semi-field. =)
