1025r or 2025r, Need to confirm with front PTO Shaft Length

Need a 1025r or 2025r owner with their front PTO shaft handy to help me confirm which of these two Deere models the shaft below fits. I know tractor owners are starting to pull these out of storage and get ready so hopefully I can catch someone who has their front hitch and PTO kit handy who can put the tape measure to it and confirm the length.

I seem to recall the 1025r front PTO shaft is just under 71" long, end to end where the 2025r was the 72" length, but I want to confirm by comparison with the measurement of the front PTO shaft from another GTT member. Thank you for your assistance with this...............

The tags came off while in storage which identified this shaft, so a new tag is wired on it, just need to confirm which machine it fits so I can properly identify it.

I believe its the 2025r based upon length but would appreciate confirmation from a 1025r or 2025r owner of the length of the front PTO shaft from their tractor.

If it is for the 2025r as I expect, its going to be for sale with the entire front PTO kit, including the mounting brackets and the main PTO carrier bracket for anyone interested. Please contact me through the website if you are interested.

I also have PTO shafts for the 2320, the 4100 and others in stock, so if you are looking for a front PTO shaft, please let me know. I end up with these PTO kits as take off units on tractor trade in models with the local dealership.

I also produce the frame mounting brackets for the 1 series and the 2025r Gen 2 machines and have individual brackets with hardware and complete kits for both in stock.
Thanks for your help on this, I do appreciate it. ....

Thank you very much for your help. I do appreciate it. (y)

Looks like it is the 2025r front PTO shaft as I suspected. Thank you for taking the time to measure and thank you for posting the reply. Our GTT members sure are a good group.........

The 1025r or 1 series PTO shaft is 66.75" and the Gen 2 2025r is right at 72", makes sense as the 2025r is longer and the wheel base shows as follows on those tractors, from the dimensions section of the owners manuals...........

1023e / 1025r- 57.1" on wheelbase
Gen 2 2025r-
63" on wheelbase

I have added these dimensions to my database of facts and figures on these machines.

If anyone needs a 2025r front PTO kit, I have the entire front PTO kit for sale or I will sell the PTO shaft separately should someone need just the PTO shaft for some reason......

I have the entire front hitch mount kits for both the 1025r and the 2025r in stock, as we make all of the brackets and mounts, except the under tractor mounts which carry the PTO shaft bearings. I have several of those brackets in stock, from new take off kits as well as some of these new in the box.

LVA2100 LVA22590

Note the notch in the left hand side (looking the brackets from their front side) of the front vertical bracket in the LVA21000 just below of where the number "4" is on the image. The top of the front vertical bracket in the LVA22590 is straight across.

Not only are the vertical angles of the brackets that hold the PTO shaft bearings different, the plates are mounted much further forward in one verses the other as well. When not seeing these two brackets together next to one another, Its difficult to distinguish these two from one another. But the notch in the top left of the front vertical plate is a critical identification point when looking at these parts uninstalled.

When they are sitting next to one another, you can see the differences in the vertical plate angles, etc, but when looking at them individually, the notch in the top of the LVA21000 is important to note as it's the only way to distinguish these two brackets.

The point of the difference in the vertical plates is to impact the angle of the long PTO shafts' connection through the bracket. The plate angle and the notch in the plate, provide clearance under the front axle and the steering cylinder which is very important.

Here is where its very confusing on these hitches and how real trouble happens when buying these brackets used as "take off" units from tractors or when purchasing a used front hitch, front QH snowblower or a front QH snow blade.......

You can use the LVA21000 or the LVA22590 to connect the front hitch to mount and operate the plow on either the 1025r or the Gen 2 2025r tractors. You have to use the correct frame mounting brackets, but you can switch the LVA21000 or the LVA22590 on either the 1025r or the 2025r and mount the front hitch to use the plow on either tractor.

But when you go to connect the front PTO shaft, then the correct bracket must be used or the PTO shaft won't have clearance and won't connect physically. I have worked with customers who have had this happen dozens of times over the past couple of years. In fact this January, I had 4 different people who were all going through this at the same time.

How to protect yourself from the wrong parts
when shopping for a used
Front Quick Hitch, Front QH Blade or Front QH mounted blower

1. Make sure you check your tractors serial number and know what you need to fit your tractor.

2.
Also make sure you carry an image of your tractors serial number plate on your phone so you have it for easy reference and check to make sure its in the same application as the serial number series from any machine that you are buying a front hitch or implement.

3. . If you are buying the BLV10708 front quick hitch (the big hitch that hangs on the front end frame bracket on the tractor) if your intent is to use the hitch for a snowblower, you don't NEED to have the hydraulic angle cylinder included. But if your intentions are to use the hitch for mounting a plow on your tractor, make sure the angle cylinder is included on the hitch. You can tell from 15 feet away as the Quick Hitch with the angle cylinder has 4 hydraulic hoses where the Quick Hitch without the angle cylinder has just two hydraulic hoses. To add the angle cylinder is about $350.

4. If the large front bracket which holds the PTO shaft under the tractor does NOT have the notch in the front as pointed out above, that bracket will NOT fit on the Gen 2 2025r for connecting the front PTO. The Gen 2 2025r MUST use the LVA21000 bracket. The 1025r, 1023e nd 1026r can use either under the tractor bracket AS LONG AS it is paired with the correct mounting brackets.

5. Make sure the following brackets are included with the implement you are purchasing. If any of the brackets are missing, we manufacture and sell the individual brackets to complete ANY of the possible combinations. Also, make sure the brackets include the hardware as the hardware alone is nearly $100 from Deere. When we sell the individual brackets or the set of brackets, they ALWAYS come with hardware in the selling price...........

6. Not sure what you are considering will fit your machine? Here is the best advice. While the actual quick hitch itself, the BLV10708 is used on many differnt tractors, the mounting brackets for each tractor model are unique to that model. So where you may be able to buy a used front hitch from another model machine, you are going to need the correct mounting brackets to use that on your tractor.

7. If you end up buying a front quick hitch and then find out none of the mounting brackets will allow you to install it on your tractor, what should you do?
  • Contact the seller and try to obtain the missing items or see if they will work with you in some fashion.
  • With assistance, determine what model tractor the brackets you did purchase can be used on. Then you can either sell the brackets or possibly trade towards the correct brackets.
  • Determine exactly what you need to acquire to install the hitch or implement you purchased. Then you can decide whether to continue with the installation or sell what you have and start over.
The actions that most likely should be avoided include
  • Dumping the items on another unsuspecting buyer to pass the problem down the line....
  • Attempt to modify the brackets as there is usually much more involved than most anticipate.
  • Also, modified mounts and brackets are hard to sell down the road as brackets and mounts designed to fit are more appealing and always command a higher resale value.
  • Make sure you know the new cost of the items you need so you don't overpay for used items.
When shopping for the Front Quick Hitch Blades, either the 54" or 60" blades, make sure they have the Quick Hitch bracket on them to they fit the hitch.

Also, while some smaller blades are QH compatible, many blades smaller than the 54" are NOT QH compatible, so make sure to be careful. Also, you wouldn't want a front blade smaller than 54" on the front of a 1 or Gen 2 2 series machine. Unless they have been modified, most blades and blowers which are Quick Hitch Compatible have a decal on them like this,

Here is the proper application to put a Front Quick Hitch on these machines..

Gen 2, 2025r front hitch installation
(1) Front Hitch Assembly - BLV10708
(2) LVU34571 Front Frame Mounting Brackets
(1) LVA21000 PTO carrier bracket under the tractor
(1) LVU22047 Front end of frame QH hanging bracket
(2) LVU29536 Triangular Extension Brackets to connect the BLV10708
(2) LVU31514 Aluminum Shims on the end of the LVA21000 bracket
(1)

Hardware kit

The LVA21000 is used on the 2025r with the longer frame mounting brackets shown below, in the next image, the LVU34571. The triangular extension brackets, LVU29536 are required to connect the BLV10708 front hitch assembly. They are shown below in another image.

1025r Option 1 (this is the most commonly used QH assembly on the 1 series machines.

(2) LVU29508 Under tractor frame mounting brackets

(1) LVU22047 Front End of tractor QH hanging bracket
(1) LVA22590 Hitch Mounting Bracket (carries the PTO bearings and connects lower bracket of QH to frame)
(3) of the LVU31514 Aluminum Shims on the end the LVA22590 bracket

(1) LVU22047 Front end of frame mounting bracket
(2) LVU29536 Triangular Extension Brackets to connect the BLV10708
(2) LVU31514 Aluminum Shims on the end of the LVA21000 bracket

Hardware kit.

The long bracket on the left is LVU22047 which is used on the 1 series and 2025r tractors, both Gen 1 and Gen 2 as well as many other tractor models.

On the right side is a pair of the larger
"frame mounting brackets LVU34571 are used on both the 1025r and the Gen 2, 2025r.These brackets are nearly double the size of the alternate under-tractor frame brackets shown in another image.

When you use the longer "Front Hitch and Mower mount " Frame brackets LVU34571, your front hitch MUST include these extension brackets, which mount on the sides of the front quick hitch itself....These are the LVU29536 triangular extension brackets shown here. We also produce these and they are sold with the proper M16x30mm Metric Flange Bolts to secure them to the hitch. These are the largest bolts used on the entire hitch mount assembly......

Here are the under frame brackets most commonly found on the 1 series tractors, these are part number LVU29508. These mount up under the engine area of the tractors and are well obscured by the side frame rails. The large round hole in the upper right corner of the bracket is where the long steel rod, which Deere calls a "Pin" is slid through these brackets and through the large bracket which the PTO bearings are mounted in either the LVA21000 or the LVA22590.

By the way, I picked up another brand new BLV10708 Front Quick Hitch yesterday which is up for resale. Never been installed or used, it's for sale for $975 without the hydraulic angle cylinder or $1,275 with the hydraulic angle cylinder kit installed. These tend to sell very quickly this time of the year........

Why is the hydraulic angle cylinder sold as an option on the BLV10708 front Quick Hitch Assembly?

If you need a front quick hitch for running the 47" or 54" front blower and you don't plan on running a front mounted snow blade, you can use the front quick hitch without the angle cylinder.

But for anyone who wants to be able to use either the front Quick Hitch Blowers or the front Quick Hitch 54" or 60" blades, you should add the optional hydraulic angle cylinder to have full control of the front hitch without having to leave the tractor seat to manually angle the blade, etc.

You can use the angle cylinder on the front hitch with the front-mount snowblower, and it's handy to have. When you connect the front hitch, square it up with the angle cylinder and then disconnect it and the blower's discharge chute rotation hydraulic lines connect to the same place on the 4 point connection as the hitch angle cylinder.

You can just position the two angle cylinder hydraulic hoses from the hitch so they are on top of the hoses from the blowers chute rotation and cap the ends of the angle cylinder hoses to keep them free of snow and ice. I use a large zip tie and connect the two angle cylinder hoses to the blower chute hoses to keep the angle cylinder hoses from dropping down below the line holder on the side of the tractor.........

Thanks...
