Depends... is the lighting 6 or 12 volt, how about the charging system. The starter won't care but the lights and generator will.

Andrew, Asking what brand of battery is best is like asking what brand of oil or brand of car is best! EVERYONE will have a different brand and it's the absolute best.
So I'll start! I've had good luck with my vehicles using ACDelco lately and Diehard years back... still available at Advance Auto, Carquest, and Sears (if any are still around!).

Aside from volts, you should get an idea of CCA. I can't help, but others may. Bob

Andrew, when I bought a new 6v battery for my B, the gentleman said that you really can only expect to get 3 years out of a battery like that. I used to think 4-5 years, but evidently not. So the beauty is, if you bought a bad battery you’ll get a do-over in a few short years. If you bought a good battery, you can repurchase the same one again in just a few short years. ☺

 

Congrats on the 1946 Slant Dash A. I also own one that I am slowly going through. It will run but needs the radiator recored. I plan on doing a 12v swap on it. We always like pics if you feel like it. Here's a couple of my '46.
