I don't know anything about tractors, however I own one and keep it at my hobby farm. This year I broke a brake line and all the fluid drained out of it. I since replaced the brake line. Was all that fluid the hydraulic fluid? Is there just one fill point for the hydraulic system on this tractor?

I am the proud new owner of 10 gallons of Hygard oil. Do the brakes, transmission and the rest of the hydraulic system all function off this oil out of the same reservoir?

Thanks...again, I don't know jack about tractors.

I am 99.9% sure it's just hydraulic oil. User JD110 knows a lot more than me about these so hopefully he will see this shortly.

I came to the conclusion that there is no brake fluid resevoir and the hoses going to the brake stuff are tied into the rest of the hydraulic system. I suspect you will come to the same conclusion if you follow what moves when you press the brake pedal. No worries about stale brake fluid. I guess it has advantages over a mechanical (rods, pivots etc) but on mine there is no lock for the brakes which firmly seems to locate the tractor for implement hook up where the park feature is more vague.

All your hydraulics including the brakes use the same fluid. One fill point. Trans/hydraulic fluid. The transmission case is the reservior.
