6410 Hydraulic problem

Hi, I have a 6410 with 9000 hrs on it, it recently shed the brake lining and blocked the screen in the bottom of the rear housing. I cleaned the screen and replaced the hydraulic and gearbox oil filters, I kept using the tractor until all the parts arrived to fix the problem as I had to replace the bearings on one of the final drives as well. I have it all back together now but the hydraulics only work for 5 to 10 seconds on start up then stop completely, if I turn it off for a minute and back on the same thing happens but if I leave it running they don't come back. I dropped the oil again and checked the screen to see if had blocked, it hadn't but the oil looked like it had been whipped, it was full of tiny air bubbles. I was thinking the hydraulic filter could have blocked again or I have a problem with the charge pump as the hydraulic pump works then seems to run out of oil. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

grb67,
Welcome to GTT.

From your post, I'd have to think the Charge Pump is most likely toast, along with possibly other hydraulic components. A brake failure will cause much damage to the hydraulic system.
You may want to remove the charge pump to inspect the condition of the gears. The main pump must first be removed for access to the charge pump, so you may as well inspect it also.

Thanks flyweight, I've taken both pumps off, I haven't checked the main pump yet but the charge pump looks good it has some light scratches in the base plate and the gears look fine, better than I expected considering the hours it's done. The lube valve spool wasn't stuck but it moved better once cleaned and lubed with fresh oil. Before I took the pumps off I ran the tractor with the hydraulic filter cracked open a couple of turns, after 5 seconds the oil flow stopped and air started coming from the filter so I stopped and removed the filter completely, when I ran it again the oil flow stopped completely after 5 seconds, my gut feeling is that the pump has a suction leek either in the pump or somewhere between the suction screen and the pump. Is that possible? I can't see any cracking or missing parts on the gasket, are there any ports in the oil journal in the housing that may be plugged that could be letting air in? The pump works fine for that first five seconds but then seems to run out of oil.
