I used truck mud grips on my 855 when I had it. Mine was 2WD but 33 inch diameter is 33 inches either way. Shouldn't be a problem.

I did poke a hole in one of my new tires near the edge of the tread but I plugged it and never had a problem.

 

I put a set of 33x12.50-15 radial truck tires on the rear of my 2032R. The big caution is that truck tires often won't set a bead on the tractor's rims. I had to install tubes in mine because I couldn't get a bead to hold.

Hey JimR.... I know this is an old thread, but could you please tell me what brand of tire that is and where you got them? Also, how did they perform in the winter?I need a set to replace the worn out turfs on my new to me 855 and I like the tread pattern very much.Thanks

 

Thanks for the replies, I am not familiar with how the tractor rim/tire bead works. Is it similar to a car/pickup rim/tire bead? I mounted some car/pickup tires 30 years ago. After searching the history here it seems it has been done by a few people. JimR, are you happy with your tires?

 

The concept for the bead is the same regardless of tire/rim use. I do think the shape of the inside edge of the tires are different and that prevents the car/truck tires from setting and holding on the rim. You can sometimes get them catch and inflate and if you can do that; they'll usually hold. But if the tire deflates it will come lose from the wheel. In my case that prevented me from putting liquid ballast in my rear tires.

Now that I have them on and liquid filled, I'm VERY happy with them so far. But the real test will come winter. I went this route because I really hate how the R4s were in snow. I'm hoping these will perform much better in the winter months.

 

What was on your 855 rims.

There were 3 different wheel/tiure sizes from the factory.

R1 ag tires....good Year
R4 industrial.....Good Year
Turf tires......never owned those

all 3 used a different Rim size/width

 

Stumbled in to some info:

AG TIRES:
Front: Goodyear Dyna Torque II; 7-12; 4-ply........12" wheel x (x") wide4.5" i think
Rear: Goodyear Dyna Torque II; 11.2 x 16; 4-ply.......16" wheel x (x" ) wide

TURF TIRES:
Rear wheels: 15" x 10" wide
Rear tires: 36x13.5x15"

Front wheels: 14" x 6" wide
Front tires: 25x8.50x14"

The R-4 's are on 16.5 wheels..(I think...Have to go look at mine).in the rear
12's in front but they are wider than the ag ..12's & not reverseable

iirc the ag tires say 16.1 on the sidewall but they fit on a 16" wheel.
I think the 0.1...denotes not dot legal or ss

I mounted the mud grips on my 855 tubeless without any issues. That is how I was able to plug one when I got a puncture.

Take a look at the Interco Trxus MT tire. Per Simpletire website, they are available in that size. They are not cheap, but I can tell you from my snowplowing days, they are phenomenal tires. I did not put them on my 855, ran them on my pickup. Being a one man show, I needed to limit my risk of getting stuck at 3 AM. I of course ran a thinner tire for winter, but what was great about these tires are the side lugs. Slide off a driveway into the soft stuff, a little turning of the tire and those lugs would grip. I called them my onboard winch. They are also siped, but thats a plus for trucks not necessarily tractors. I would think they’d perform great on a tractor, especially in mud. I got my recommendation from a diehard off roader.

 

Adding another data point for 855 tires. Mine came with Goodyear Softrac in 33/12.5-15. I don't doubt they were the original tires based on the wear and cracking. I found some Cooper Evolution M/T for a reasonable price, IMO. (Currently just under $200 each) Still on sale at Amazon.
Tire shop had no issues mounting them.
